XM Radio channel changing

Anyone know why I wouldn't be able to scan through the XM radio channels one at a time? If I use the knob on the right, it seems to skip most channels. It will jump from 2 to 7 - 16 - 26 - 30, etc etc... I know there are more channels, I just can't figure out how to get to them yet. I haven't had time to pull out the book and RTFM either(I have a newborn in the house, basically takes all my free time). Any ideas?

Oh one more thing.. Rarely it will let me get to channels in between the ones listed above. But just for a second. For instance I will be on 26 and scroll down it will go 26 - 25 - 24 - 23 - 16 - 7 - 2... So I'm pretty sure this knob is the right control...

You need to upgrade your subscription since the 3 months have probably run out. That's what happened to us. As the days wear on, you'll get fewer and fewer channels until all you get it the preview and ID channel. We called them and did an annual subscription.

It's a year subscription from the factory. I thought maybe it wasn't activated yet, so I went through the activation process and XM's site even said it was activated, and if I signed up for anything it wouldn't take affect until mid 2009. It's driving me nutz. I'm pulling out the book tonight. But I've fiddled with it enough to think that something may be slightly broken.
For what it's worth, I've had very smooth sailing with Sirius radio--none of the types of problems you mention. Plus, you get Howard's show every day which is often hilarious, especially without the editing.

And no, I don't own stock in Sirius. I'm just a happy customer.

Aren't the two companies merging soon anyway, though?
Mine had trouble on initial activation. Had to call them and reacitivate. Make sure during the activation process you are either parked outside or driving around. In the garage doesn't work
PHX: your sat. radio is in "demo" mode
I had to call them. Ended up paying for the year membership. Basically I didn't get any free XM time. Seems like they activated it early.
Was your vehicle a "demo" ?? If not, I would bring that up to your dealership.

No it wouldn't allow me to do the temporary activation, presumably because it was already activated. I really don't care. I paid $140 for the 1/yr subscription and wish now I never did. The audio quality through XM is the worst I've ever heard. Why have a semi-decent sound system (ML), and play satellite radio that sounds like this? I have Sirius in another vehicle and it sounds a million times better. I can't explain why, but of the two, Sirius has the best compression methods, and has FAR better content. Unless I have no FM signal and am sick of my CD's, I will never turn XM on.

And yes I've played with every audio setting I could find.
