Welcome to the site!

Let me make sure I'm understanding, your wanting to be able to start the car, then leave it on and locked while you leave it for a few minutes to warm up correct? Well the car needs the key to be inside for it to start and once you take it out of the car while it's on it starts to yell and scream for you to bring the key back.

I'm not sure if this would work but if you have two sets of keys, you might be able to leave one in the car while it's running and lock it with the other one. Then when you return, you might be able to unlock it with the second key. I'm not sure that would work but that's the only way I see it being possible without a remote start. Hopefully Flipside or one of the FChamp's can help you with it more

I figured it wouldn't work but it was worth a try :D

Never thought of it till now. Just tried everything to lock the car while it is running and it doesn't work. The only thing that would work is to do it with the window open, but that defeats the purpose. There has to be a remote start that will work with our cars. I think I saw something in the forums before that someone has one and the only problem is that sometimes when he gets in the car and tries to shift into gear the car dies. I'll do some looking.
I remember this as well F'n around, I think the problem was that they could start the car with the remote start and then once they got in the car they had to turn the F off and restart it with the normal key inside.

This might help understand a little more about how the key works, I didn't know this

For the original OP, I would say you might want to look into a remote start if this is something your really wanting to do. Some dealerships have brands they can install for you, might want to ask around at your local dealership
