I have that problem too. When the oil temp is still low so for some reason it doesn't like to shift. I don't see it as a problem as long as it still shifts. You could take it to your dealer to see if there is a flash to override it. If you do and there is let me know.

I don't think mine over revs, but it does shift slower when it's cold. Also, once I've got 2 ticks on the gauge, it's fine.

Yes. Mine has done it from second to third. The issue goes away once the car warms up.

Same here.... just dont go WOT when its cold..

I have the same problem on my 08 F with 12000 Km. But I will just keep driving it until something breaks.

it holds the revs longer when the engine is cold so that the engine will warm up faster, reducing wear/tear on the engine and reducing cold start emissions.

It's not a problem by any means, like Bulls said it's to help the engine warm up faster and get the fluids flowing through the engine to reduce the wear and tear on essential parts. It's not a big deal, just don't go redlining it as soon as you start it

I have had my F for 3 weeks and noticed this. There is a hesitation in the shift, even when I'm in manual and using the paddles until the engine warms up a bit. Glad to hear this is normal and by design and not a glitch in my F.

excessive. typically the cylinder heads will be as hot as they need to be after 30-60 seconds. the transmission fluid on the other hand, needs to be circulated. hense, driving easily until your ready to mash it.

no need to do that. just start it up, put on your seatbelt, and go! it'll warm up faster the sooner you drive it.

Yeah, 5-10 mins is wayyy to long. 30-60 second rule is something I like to use myself as it is smart to let all that nearly 10 quarts of oil to circulate in the system.

idling the car is bad for the engine. the longer you idle the car, the more damage it can cause. driving the car is the best way to warm up and protect the engine.
