The touchscreen on my 2008 IS-F just stopped working yesterday. The side buttons all work and the navi still shows my location but it is not responding to touch at all. Voice command still okay. I googled this and found it to be a common problem across all models. The fix is to replace the touchscreen and some have even commented that the screen only lasts 3-4 years! Is this really true or is this a problem with early models only?

Sorry to hear that. It would pi$$ me off to have that happen. No problems with mine so far. Do you have experience taking the Navi out? If it were me I would try to reset it first by unplugging it to try to reset it. It's either that or bring it to the dealership and have them troubleshoot it.

I have no idea if this is true for GPS's but my phones touchscreen broke. Touchscreens are insanely easy to fix. There are two parts, the digitizer(registers touch) and the LCD(the screen) just take it apart, get a new digitizer and boom but idk if they sell parts for oem gpses. And $3,000 dollars to fix it? I'd just read a map lol

Was your screen cracked? Did the dealer give you a reason why this is not covered under warranty? I googled and found this is a common problem with all Lexus models, LS, ES and IS.

So my display just went out tonight. The screen scrambled like a computer screen when locking up. Then it went black. Radio still works, looks like its the lcd screen. i bought this as a certified lexus last year. Anyone know if warranty covers this???

IMHO, one of the major reasons this forum has so little traffic is because the information provided here is, well, not very good:mad: tbone8801 the only way to see if your dealer will warrant this, is to ask him, and if he says no, elevate it to Lexus Corporate. This seems to be a common problem as these vehicles age. It has not happened to me - Yet:confused: However, there does seem to be a more economical fix than that provided by Lexus, if they won't repair your unit. Four threads below, from another forum outline other owners fixes to this issue. The last one is a pretty good DIY.

To give you an update, the service tech got it to come back on. It eventually came back on and went out again. They replaced it this week under warranty! $2,500.00 refurbished replacement. about an hour install time. They don't install new ones, apparently the new ones are $7k.
