Andy, they dont lose money selling for 500 over invoice. hell u could sell the car at invoice and ud still make money.
say u get 5 ISFs. u sell one at invoice. the other 4 at prices ranging from 1-5k over invoice. even the one at invoice you made money because for selling all 5 you get a nice "kickback" rebate. I have many friends in the automotive industry who have confirmed this, as did the finance manager at the lexus dealership near my home.
all im saying is not all salesmen are greedy. Andy, YOU may want to make 5k per ISF u sell, and thats your issue. some people would rather make 2000 per car and sell 5, then hope to make 5k and sell one. Greed is a natual human trait that we all have, whereas some people are able to manage it better than others. if you can sell all 5 at 5k profit each, more power to you; just that i definitely wont be one of your "customers." Do most buyers know how to get a good deal or know what they want in a car? no, and they get ripped off. However, if you are knowledgeable, do your research and compare, like I DO before buying, then you will get a great deal. Simple as that. Also, it helps that i have a good relationship with the finance manager at the dealership. maybe im getting a deal that one of u wont get. i dont know that, nor do i care. bottom line is, im going to get this car and im going to get it for around 54k before tax, title, and reg so around 60k out the door.
i understand that its a business, but simply put, with this deal on the table, i am not going to pass it up nor am i going to buy elsewhere for say, 1-2-even 3k off msrp. the only reason why i have not pulled the trigger yet is because they have a white/white interior coming in by months end, and i have not decided between black/white interior yet. oh, and this one comes equipped with PS2s, instead of the bridgestones of the other 7 cars on the lot.
and for the record, i agree with SMoke on the over msrp deal. anyone who pays over MSRP for any car is stupid or foollish. i dont care if its a freaking veyron. if you are paying over msrp, IMO you are foolish.
