I took am thinking of getting the extended warranty. I'll probably inquire about warranty's tomorrow. I may stop by the dealership where I bought the IS-F. Hopefully the car has as little problems and issues as possible. So far nothing has gone wrong with the car!
Thoughts on extended warranties
I usually don't like buying warranties, etc., but I hate having to pay for car repairs. And, given that I would like to keep my IS-F beyond 50,000 miles, I am thinking about an extended warranty. At the outset, let me say two things:
1. I know Lexus makes reliable cars. What I am worried about with the IS-F is the increased cost of the components in this car, since it is high performance.
2. I am not going to do a third-party warranty policy, since I have had and heard of some bad experiences.
So I talked to my local Lexus dealer about the Lexus Platinum Extra Care Policy and was quoted $2400 for a 7 year/75000 plan or $2900 for a 7 year/100000 plan. I was told that these are Lexus's MSRPs and have not been marked up.
When I asked about a discount, I was told that they could probably knock off a "couple hundred" dollars.
What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the warranty policy itself, as well as (and perhaps most importantly) your thoughts on price.

If you think you'll keep the car past the factory warranty coverage I think it's a good idea. I do believe that Lexus, like Toyota, will allow you to add the extended warranty up until the initial bumper to bumper coverage expires.
