I have discovered, perhaps with a little disappointment, that most people, even those with fast(ish) cars, do not seem to know what the IS-F is. I have had people clearly checking it out, but most just see Lexus IS and do not seem to think twice. Until I zoom past them!

I would not mind a couple red light drag races but none yet. Of course, I would stay well within the speed limit!
I have noticed the same thing. My dad just bought a base Porsche Cayman (I know, i know. I begged him not to, but he said it was enough car for him) and always has people trying to race him. I have yet to have anyone even notice my car besides a neighbor that stopped and inquired about the F when I was washing it.

I don't really mind. I don't need some teenager killing himself on the freeway trying to see if he can outrun an F. A short stoplight drag would be fun if the conditions were safe enough for it, but otherwise I've pretty much given up street racing. I'm lucky i survived my high school years and the F is twice as powerful as an car I had back then.

+1 to what everyone said about no one knowing what the F is. There are quite a few people who have no idea or clue what it is. I actually had a guy pull up at an intersection and ask me what type of body kit I had on my 350...

I usually don't race but have run into a few nice cars here and there that have wanted to mess around. Perhaps the coolest run was against an Aston Martin Vantage (older version, probably 2005-2006). He pulled up with his girlfriend in the front seat and downshifted so I did the same. I was surprised I was able to get a pull on him and by about 120 I was a half car length ahead. I don't think he knew how to drive the thing honestly but who knows. Haven't seen him around sense :) Other then the few cool runs, it's been mostly rice rockets and kids in hondas wanting to hear it and see what it can do. I also get the occasional ask for a rev at a stoplight :D
I'm not that surprised you pulled on the Aston. They are beautiful cars, but very heavy and their engines are a bit peaky from what I have read.

I do agree that most people will not know what the ISF is, it's a question I get a lot. But most people (younger crowd) in my area have nice cars and always try to race me. Sometimes i just feel like not going fast. I dont know that may be just me. But definetly have gotten a lot of laughs out of the expressions people have when i pass them by or when they really start looking at the car.
I can't go fast right now in the city I drive in most because I'm on probation. I got my first ticket in years the first week I owned the F. Sad thing is I wasn't going that fast and was with a big pack of cars. Unfortunately, the F apparently stands out the local LEOs.

I'm kinda with you on this, sort of..My thing is I ADMIT that I speed excessively on the highway going about 80-100MPH but ironically I get pulled over for doing 30 MPH on 25 zone on the way local way and b/c of it I got a ticket for $90 with possibility of 2 points or so..Crazy huh? Life works crazy ways sometimes..
I never complain about getting a ticket. I know I drive over the speed limit pretty much all the time when the conditions warrant, so even if I didn't actually deserve a ticket when I got one there are plenty of times before I should have been ticketed and wasn't.
