Sport Mode

I must admit that I am not driving this car like it's meant to be driven (probably driving it like my last car - '03 Camry). I have yet to use the Sport mode feature and have no clue what this car can ultimately do. I live in the Arlington, VA area and with traffic being the way it is, not to mention the police presence, it's hard to find somewhere to open this baby up. Any one in the area have any thoughts?

To the others out there, does Sport mode make any difference in auto versus M mode? If I do Sport mode in auto, any difference than normal mode in auto?

1,400 miles on the car and have had it about 3 months...I wish I could push it.

That really sucks you can't open it up!! Take it to a local track :) The link will help you understand the sport mode a little better. Most of us drive it in sport all the time, give it a try and you will notice a difference in the way the car acts

Sport Mode with the manual shifts engaged is the most fun on the street. I know that you can't open it up like you want, but you can still have fun:cool:

Check with your local SCCA chapter and see if they meet up at any tracks in your area:D

So drove home today in Sport mode...still in D, but nonetheless, i DEFINITELY noticed a difference...damn I love this car!

Thanks guys for the info!
The key is to get up to the speed limit as quick at possible.
VA? That really blows to have a quick car out there... I read the other day that the average speeding ticket costs about $350 because they need it for road construction... Not to mention that the ticket for going double the limit is $1,000... Any truth to this Beatle? I still know that it does suck in VA because its one of the few states that outlaws radar detectors
in suffok county li if they cath u drag raceing they compond and then crush your .car no joke!!!!
VA blows. I just moved here but have heard that the speeding tix are ridiculous. And the roads are horrible so no clue what they do with that money...feels like rush hour 24/7. I may have to risk jail time and smoke the Smokey.
Anyone buy the "rumor" that if you donate to the police, they give you a sticker to put in the window saying you support them, and then cops are less likely to bother you?

If so, maybe I throw them some money and have them put my car on the "don't bother him" list!

I heard something about a department doing this somewhere, wasn't sure if it was for real though

Depends on the agency, what your doing (speeding, racing, etc.), where your located, etc. In Texas, everyone has the stickers plastered on their cars, not sure if it really works though, might give it a try :p

Race on the West Side Highway it's the best spot.
sucks for you dude,JK. I went 120 mph on I-5 yesterday here in California.:) I haven't drove it in manual either.
I live in Reston Va, and work in Falls Church... Got a White IS F with 4800 miles, just had my service done, looking forward to opening it up tonight on the way home to feel how it runs after the first oil change. Arlington is a bit difficult to cruise around in. Like livin in the city. Come out west a bit though and the roads are great. Hollar at me ill show u where to take it. I did a track event at Summit point raceway in West Va. About an hour Arlington. Great track...
I work in Tysons and know where Falls Church is. Would def. appreciate you letting me know where a good spot is to open it up...let me know if you want to meet up (haven't seen a white one yet in person).

As for now, I'm heading to Dulles in about an hour and will be opening it up on VA-267...I love Sport mode!!!

No, it doesn't work... The people who solicit you to purchase the sticker only make a 10% donation to the actual police department, so the police don't even notice the donation! As a matter of fact the people that call you to buy the sticker don't even work for the police department! So it doesn't make a difference whether you have the sticker or not.
