someone stole my cap!

Took the car over to a friends house yesterday and the first thing he asked me was, whats that hole in your bumper? When i took a look, the square cap covering up the threaded port for attaching a tow hook was gone! I had the car all over the place, but i'm pretty sure it went missing after i parked it at a best buy for about 45 minutes in a questionable part of town. I doubt these guys just fall out. Does anyone know the part number for this piece and where i can get another one? I plan to go talk to a dealer on monday, but thought i would check on here first. 2008 IS F Ultrasonic Blue Mica.

Dealer only. That shouldnt just fall out.
yah i'm pretty sure you have to pop it out with a flatblade screwdriver. check your bumper for scuffs around the hole.

why the hell would anyone steal this unless they had a blue isf to put it on. and if he/she had a blue isf to put it on, im pretty sure he/she would have bought one instead of stealing it. unless he/she is a shady drug dealer.
i had one "stolen" too about six months ago. it cost about 15 bucks to replace, from the dealer. i had to wait a couple of weeks to get it, they waited until the auto body shop mixed up the paint for another vehicle to paint it, but the painting was free.

i was skeptical that it was stolen, i park in a lot at work, and my garage at home. i seldom bring it out to to daily stuff like shopping, and did not recall doing so before i noticed it was gone. i do clearly remember i was going about 155 a few days before, and always attributed the disappearance to that...but the dealership said no way. were you driving it hard before you lost it? anyone else lose this piece?
No I wasn't really speedin much at all that day. I did take it to an automated carwash that mornin, that was my first culprit, but I didn't notice it was missin till he pointed it out. I really have no idea when I lost ut, but remember stepping back and admiring it after the wash, you'd think I would have seen it then. I doubt anyone would take it cuz they needed it, just to be a pita. No scuffs or anything around the hole
Mine did come off at the car wash. I was still hanging on with the tab when they where drying it.
 You run you car through an automatic car wash? :(
Yea yea I know it's forbidden. I keep sayin I'll stop when I get around to actually detailing it myself.
solution

Part number is 52129B.

My local dealer wants $12 for the cap, plus $48 to paint it if they already have the paint mixed for another vehicle. $90 if they have to mix it just for me...

It's a 1.5" x 1.5" plastic square for cryin out loud.
my dealer painted it for free, like i said i just had to wait a few weeks until the same color came in. i would print this thread out and show it to them, and ask them to waive the fee if you wait until the paint is mixed. to charge you $48 is tacky, imo.

That's a lot for a little part. Maybe you need to hang around that Best Buy and wait for another IS-F to show up.

That made me laugh! Thanks.

Dont fret it, the simple truth is some of us work so much and have a family that washing the car by hand is a luxury. I have to take mine thru a car wash as well at times. I dont take it thru a gas station one but one of the professional ones and yes its automated. Hum, dirty car or car wash.....I'll take the car wash when I have to.
pics or it didn't happen
found it...

went by the carwash the other day and asked the owner if he had seen a blue cap. He went inside the bay and sifted around and found it thrown off to the side. One of the brushes must have pulled it loose. Piece was intact, even the little plastic clip was still hangin on. Aside from a few knicks, it's as good as new.

Special thanks to FchampOH for mobilizing his forces (body shop) - he was just about to have them start painting me another piece when i found this one.

Moral of the story - dont use an autowash. If you do, make sure you do a walk around before you drive off.
My pleasure! Enjoy those Hawk brake pads..

Dont they have auto spa's where they can hand wash it for you? We have tons of places like that in az, I do that when I'm feeling lazy or don't have time.

Yes and I have done that as well :)
i believe they should be able to replace one for free...if its a reputable dealership... i remember something like that happened on my LX470 they replaced it immediately
I can't believe this cap comes off that easily through a car wash. The car must have experienced a tremendous beating from the rags, sprays, and whatever they use, for the cap to come off. No thanks, I'll wash it myself.
