Someone scratched my car

4419 Views 13 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  isflojo
I went out to my car the other day and noticed a long scratch along the driver door to the rear door. It starts about a foot before the driver door handle and then again right after the handle all the way to the middle of the rear door.

I don't know why anyone would do that but it's really annoying. Any thoughts on what products are out there that I could possibly use to reduce the look of it? It's just frustrating and such a horrible look to have.

Thanks!

People like that piss me off. No respect for other people property. Is it just in the clear coat or is it deeper?
That does suck. When I lived in Alexandria, VA, I had a Corvette at the time. It got keyed 2 times and on one occasion, someone left a huge wad of chew on the hood. It's a shame there's douchbag's out there that mess with people's property. Best of luck.
Depending on your situation, I suggest putting a high quality wifi cam or webcam on your car and use a service like ugolog.com. I've caught somebody that stole the head unit out of my Acura before this way. It's great peace of mind and it's cheap, and nothing is better than sweet sweet revenge. :D

As for the scratch... If it's past the clear coat, you'll obviously have to touch it up. Call up your Lexus dealer and see what they say.
so how does this actually work?

Its a hidden camera system added to the car in different locations. I didn't know you could have it monitored though. We had a scumbag in the DFW area get caught keying a Hummer by this method. It was funny as heck as he was a professor, 50ish, and bunny hugger and the big bad hummer was using too much fuel so his idea was Key It. GROW UP LOSERS!
Sorry to hear someone scratched your F man, definitely stinks. If it's past the clear coat, bring it to Lexus to see what they recommend if it's not past the clear coat, call a professional detailer in your area and see if they can perhaps buff it out or help you in some way
Thanks all. How can I tell if it's past the clear coat or not? I can feel the scratch line with my fingers and the line itself is white. Not sure if that helps distinguish whether it's past the clear coat or not.
Easiest way is to bring it to a detailer and ask them if it can be buffed out. A lot of times even if it is through the clear a good buffing can remove 90% of the scratch, this might be good enough until you get some cash set aside for a new paint job on those two panels.
Were did you park at. I try not to park next to anyone at all times.

I parked at the end of the row and the side that was scratched is the side which was not next to any car. I assume it was someone walking by who had nothing better to do!
That really does suck and I would def. deal with Lexus if its past the clear coat or "nail deep"
Holy Crap! Reading this post really made my blood boil!!! People with no respect for other peoples property are the lowest form in my book. A few weeks back I came out to my car to find some sort of paint spattered on the side of my car, lucky it washed off. I found out it was some kids with a paintball gun...oooh what I would give to have caught them in the act!!!!!! I really hope you can get it out because I know if it was me and I had to see that everytime......just the thought...
Good Luck!
Sad but true, there are envious people out there who are vandals. They probably don't have God in their hearts. ;) I hope you get rid of the scratch one way or another..
