Sikky Headers installed

Hey Guys,

Just got headers installed. Quality is ok. Had a minor dent on one of the headers. Flanges could have been machined better. BE Aware when installing passenger header to shave starter heat shield bolt. otherwise it will touch and rub against. Do this before installing! Instructions not clear on that.

Power is great! find car vibrates alot at idle in gear, headers are real close to body and you can feel it. On cruise at hwy speeds quiet, if you romp on it
"Nasty" comes to mind and in a good way!

Hope this helps

PS Was only able to upload the dent photo. Other photo's I can email if want to see

Congratz on that. I figured the vibration would be there. What kind of numbers you turning on that camaro?

489rwhp. Love the car but just doesn't handle like an F.

Spoke with Sikky today about vibration and they think it might be a heat shield bolt on drivers side that might be close to header. When in drive engine may twist a bit causing this. Also I've had issues with gaskets from where header joins cat back. They are going to send me some updated ones. So far I've changed them twice on each side using gaskets from muffler shops. I don't seem to get more than 500km before material melts and blows out.

With all the negative talk about sikky, I am happy overall.
I've been dealing with Richard and he has been very good. Just my .02
I'll keep everyone posted.

Any luck with the new gaskets. Mine just blew. I need a new set already. Hopefully Sikky can help me out also. I'm at about 1K miles.
Glad to report that Sikky sent me 2 new metal gaskets. No leaks so far. They had to order some in. Call Richard. Service has been great.
The gaskets collapse as you tighten them. I have some photo's on my iPhone .
Good luck!

Nice...not that far off from my 475rwhp on my 404..:p
awesome.... did you have a leak just where the exhaust connects to the manifold? Or also with the gaskets that connect to the head of the motor itself....

Mines killing me with the resonating sound from the leak! Sikky is mailing me some new gaskets! I can't wait till they get here!!
With the JoeZ exhaust I can tell you that indeed it can be tricky getting a perfect seal where the exhaust bolts to the headers. For one, the flanges on the JoeZ exhaust were apparently slightly warped so they had to be machined down flat, otherwise it was going to be impossible getting a perfect seal. Originally we had to double up (metal gasket with organic) to get a good seal, but when I had to pull my after-market exhaust off to pass state inspections I ended up finding some double thick gaskets from https://www.theflangeman.com, which are working perfectly. Apparently though, the double thick gaskets I have are no longer made, but you guys might want to call theflangeman or other gasket manufacturers to see what may be comparable. They work so well I can't understand why they would ever discontinue them.

On a side note when I put my OEM exhaust back on in conjunction with the SIKKY headers the OEM gaskets worked perfectly and I never had a leak.
My SIKKY headers finally made it to Manila. I want to share some information with the intention of being constructive as opposed to being critical. One day was not enough to complete installation for the following reasons:
1. We had to port/shave off some obstructions in the pipes by the flange connecting to the head. These were imperfections coming form welding.
2. We had to move the suspension temporarily to give way for better access in putting on tine headers.
3. We will have to relocate the O2 sensor since it was touching the flloorboard.
4. Due to what I have seen in comments given by those who have installed the SIKKYs, I told my guys to make sure that there is enough clearance between thie headers and any other part of the car.

I will keep you guys posted once fully installed, driven, and tested. By the way for those who just ordered theirs please don't even think of using the gasket to the cats that comes with it. You will definitely need stringer ones.

Till my next posting.

The gaskets that are leaking join from headers to catback.

Thanks Bullterrier, mine's all installed. We made sure that there was ample clearance all over. No heat shields anymore, correct? I will see the real diff this weekend. But so far I love it. The sound is nasty nice! Oh yeah, I made sure we put in far better gaskets before installing.
I just left heat shield and cut bolt instead.
