 Hey guys i had my is-f parked at a shopping mall far away from other cars, walked outside and they tried to steal the car. the managed to get in they poped the color cap off and pulled the lock cylinder out . they got in .i had a brand new escort radar worth 500.00 they didnt take that. so upsetting to see the f like that. anyway brought it to lexus, it cost 400 for the cylinder and 200 for labor. probably could have got it done cheaper but when i saw the f i freaked and brought it that night to lexus, and they immediatly gave me an es 350. so i pick up the car tomorrow and pay them 650.00 ouch.but i guess if i drive and can afford this car i shouldnt complain. i feel violated though. they broke into the car sick about it. just thought i would let everyone know its not cheap. be careful. Kenny!!!!!!!!

Yep, the world is full of crazy sickos who have no respect for property. Sounds like you got off easy. Did you contact your insurance company?

Lou
Wow, sorry to hear that Kenny! Some people, like lowrider said, have no respect for anyone else other then themselves, its sad, but true. I am glad to hear that Lexus took it right away and was able to fix it. I've learned to blend in with crowds when I park in places, especially shopping areas and malls. Good luck and be safe
That is something a qualified body shop that could have done for less than half of that unfortunately.
Sorry to hear that man...

I went up to Jersey City a few year back, parked my M3 in the "secured" hotel lot, within 10 minutes...two guys started breaking in the car! The concierge chased them off but not before two big ass dents and a broken door handle. That's the last time I drove up to the NJ/NYC area.
Forgive me for saying this, but it seems that mainly in NY and NJ these types of incidence occurs a lot at least from my experience over the years of going down those states I mean don't get me wrong every state has bad parts of the city no matter how you see it but NY and NJ has the most amount of auto vandalism or theft..:(

I'm glad it worked out positively in the end,nj1..
Sorry to hear what happen. This is one of the reason why NJ has probably the highest insurance rate. Also one of the factor is depending on how much balls those people have that are willingly to break into the car. I guess its mainly you have to know where to park and people you know. I know a few people or crews that actually prowl for certain types of car. Especially the brand new ones. Good thing they did mess anything else in the car. Some of those people would do more then break locks and windows. Benefits to bringing a car dealer is that you are guarantee a close to perfect job and if there were any issues you can always bring it back plus they have more knowledge with the vehicle compare to some body shops. By the way did anyone invest on The Unbreakable Autolock yet?
I used to live in NJ... No wonder your car almost got stolen! All you have to say is NJ and auto theft and you already have your answer lol, not at all surprised.

LoL. Bring it to Jersey City, Newark, and Camden. You'll see your car stolen right infront of you and there isn't a thing you can really do about it too. Except call the cops after they're done.
i live in lyndhurst new jersey. next to nyc. 5 miles from the city
sorry to hear. I had my gen1 for all of two days before someone drove down teh side of the front door in a parking lot. Is there no place safe these days?

He's right a lot of thefts around the nyc area, especially the bronx area, as well as harlem and what not, trying not to stereotype or anything, but my cousins escalade was stolen twice right from their driveway, its bad, thank god i have a gated residence so its safer, than outside...Knock on wood, and my doors are usually unlocked, but sorry to hear what happened kenny. Hope everythings okay, go find those bastards and run them over, not with the F obviously
State of NY and NJ are mostly gang attributed crimes whether it's organized crime or straight out petty gang theft..
Man! I don't know what to say. I'm obviously very sorry for what happened to you. At least it wasn't stolen(that's the positive). Words can't describe what I would do if that happened to me. I wouldn't feel sorry for an m3 owner or something, but since your a fellow F owner, I feel the pain.:( Well there's nothing you can do now, but you'll know to be extra careful out there from now on. Hope your car gets repaired perfectly!
M3 owners..

:D :D :D
i wouid think the f is realy hard to steal, even for ny,nj car thiefs.
Sucks to be sure, glad for you they didn't get the car. Leaving the radar dectector behind tells you they must have really wanted your car. $650 seems a relative bargain. Before moving to Rockland, I lived in the Bronx for many years until 2005, and still work there today. My 1986 really beat up Cressida was stolen TWICE off the streets near where I lived. I mean the car was such a POS, body damage...mismatched rims, the works. Each time I surprisingly got it back, the second time the guy was caught at an EZ pass gate....I had deactivated the tag. I guess the moral of the story is that car thieves will steal anything, so they must drool when they see something nice like a F. I park the F at work in a gated lot.
I have LoJack but then again, if my car got stolen, I really don't want it found...rather take the insurance claim :(

I agree with what you said, having the car come back and seeing what was done to it while it was stolen kinda makes you heartbroken.:(
