I made my choice in April of '08 and I was looking at all the V8's out there. Audi RS4, BMW M3, Lexus IS-F and even the new Jaguar XF. After a long deliberation about 2 weeks after testing all of the cars, I decided to go with the IS-F. Keep in mind, I test drove all of them. One of the biggest reasons why I decided to go with the IS-F, was because the car felt really right, sort of like you walk into your house and it has that warm feeling and it had all the amenities all the other cars were offering and it was way less expensive. The M3 listed out at 72k and the Audi RS4 was a close 68k. The Jaguar XF had all of that without the oomph, though, so scratched that off the list.
After owning the IS-F for over a year, now, I've been reading a lot of reviews on all of the cars that I originally wanted to buy. First thing, the transmission in the M3 didn't hold up after a year, the car had the DSG transmission and it was already slipping (this was in a motor trend review, I think). The Jaguar, I kept reading about how the quality falls apart after a year - parts starts to squeak and whatnot. The RS4, I think is just a much slower car than the IS-F and cost way more. As for Cadillacs, I read the same things all the time and has already been mentioned in this thread already, the car just seems to lack in the quality department. It basically, falls apart. Sorry for the long response but, it felt good letting you guys know this. Over a year later with my IS-F and I haven't had any problems whatsoever!! Transmission is as crisp and fast shifting like when I first drove it off the lot!!
