I'm a new member to the forum and I just purchased my 08 MM F in April. I live in Lancaster, PA. Im currenlty in the process of changing out the HID bulbs to 8K. Took off all the dust shields in the engine bay and discovered there was no way I could access them. My last car was a G35 and I could access those bulbs under the wheel wells. Do I have to do this with the F? Can anyone direct me to a DIY site or maybe talk me through it. I would apreciate the help. Thought I would call the dealership, but I dont want to pay to have this done. Besides, there replacement bulbs for crying out loud. I hope I dont have to take the bumper off to get to these things.

I hope you can convince someone in this forum to say something about it because I've tried before and there was no response.

its really easy to change out your hid bulbs. pay close attention to the area right behind the headlight bulb. theres a yellow cover with yellow letterings on it warning you of high voltage blah blah blah, on one of the edges, there is a thin metal line, all you have to do is push/slide it off the notch and voila the cover of the hid bulb comes off, the other end is two philips bolt that looks like its holding the cover, you dont have to touch those. once you have the cover off, you will realize that the bulb is put in sideways instead of the forward facing traditional method. if you cant figure it out, let me know, I will post picts to help you out a bit.

Oh, btw, you dont have to take off bumper, just have to take off all the engine surrounding covers, the 9 clips up front and the 3-4 clips on each side of the fender covers. It takes approx 20 mins to complete the Job. Im a newbie here also, just stepped up from a 08 G37 last month.

Thanks, I will take a look this weekend. I just realized I can't use the bulbs I used for my infiniti(2DS) Lexus is D4C. What kind of bulbs did you get? 6K or 8K?

Im getting the vais tech ipod adapter and nav override done this weekend. Kind of nervouse about ripping that dash apart. I have all the directions so hopefully everythiing goes well.

the dash takes me 5 mins to take apart, its alot easier than you think. I got the 6k from ebay. I also put 3k hid in my fogs so I figure that I dont need to spend a million bucks on hid headlight upgrade since my hid fogs are gonna supplement the lighting. this vais nav override that you got, is it used so you can watch dvd while driving? I want to get one too if it works. I want to be able to put some cartoons on for my daughter while driving. If you dont mind driving over to NE philly, I dont mind helping you out.

The vais Ipod adapter is the SL2Vi package 4. It alows you to navigate your ipod through the touch screen and also play videos through it as well. The bypass is another piece made my prestigous society. This is a plug and play unit that just plugs in and allows you to watch dvd's while driving and also use the navigation functions while driving. I'll let you know how I make out. I have to get my F inspected in July at Wilke Lexus because they forgot to put a new inspection on it when I bought it. Maybe we could meet up. I may need some help installing my HID bulbs.
