I love my 9500i

There is always a lot of debate over this, but it usually boils down to Valentine 1 or Passport 9500 for stand alone units. Then there is a whole other debate over the bumper located systems, K40, etc.

either one is fine for radar. unfortunately neither one is good enough protection against laser. having a radar detector can sometimes provides false sense of security especially in regions where lasers are prevalent.

V1...been using it since it came out...not the prettiest or smallest unit but no doubt saved my butt numerous times.

thanks for the feedback. any recommendations for laser as well I actually think maryland states troopers use laser and because I live off of a major interstate I have to deal with them more.

I think your gonna find it is a matter of opinion by ownership! The guys who use the Valentine thinks it's awesome and the guys who use the Escort 9500i think it's the stuff. They are both great units, no doubt. The Escort 9500i has the ability to lock out regular falses by marking a location by GPS and frequency. For example, if you drive past the same grocery store everyday that has automatic doors that set off your detector you can mark that location so it will never go off there again unless it receives a different frequency like from a police radar. And the most important part is you can get the 9500ix with a sweet blue display that matches the IS-F blue gauge needles!

Thanks Doug I might have to do that. Anything that matches the blue is always a good thing in my opinion. Thanks to everyone else who replied as well.

what is the price difference between the two? can the passport one be hardwired or appear in the mirror like jctheplaya's V1?

best protection against laser are jammers. escort has one that it calls laser shifter and probably can be added to their 9500 radar detector. laser jammers are illegal in some states, double check before you buy.

I picked up a escort 9500ix and it's rated one of the best. Works great

I used to own a V1 and sold it for the 9500xi. I will never go back.

The thing about the 9500ix is good because once u pass the same area 3 times that picks up x or k band signals it will store as a false alarm so u won't get annoying false alarms. Also the GPS database redlight/speed camera works very well too. It's dead on
