Radar Detector Hardwire

Has anyone hardwired their radar into the rear view mirror? If so, what color wires do you tie into? Also, is it different for the TSIB fixed mirrors?

Thanks,

Has anyone done this?
Check CL. I don't recall the members who've done it on here.
There should be a kit on Ebay that allows you to do it via plug/play, I wouldn't splice any wires.

Another way to do this is with an add-a-circuit kit from autozone. You just need to figure out what type of fuses your car uses. (It's either ATM or ATO)

What kind of radar detector is it?

You're more than welcomed to check out my V1 setup in person. I don't have an IS-F yet, but the setup is very very stealthy and clean.

I purchased the kit that you just plug into the mirror wires but I don't know which wires are the ones I use.

I have an escort passport 8500 x50.
subscribing....I'm probably going to get the V1 and would love to have it hardwired to the mirror so it would look nice and clean...
radar or lidar

I thought most police forces now use laser speed traps so radar is obsolete? There is very little you can do with laser except choose a black car with as little reflective surface in the front end as possible. (black out chrome trims) and then use a non-reflective license cover. Basically all you can do is cut down on your infra red signature?
Nah, depending on the state you can get lidar "jammers" or "confusers". In many states, I think anyways as I have not checked for quite a while, it's still not illegal to have them. Radar jammers are illegal in every state because they mess with radio freq's which is regulated by the FCC. No gov agence has been set up yet to regulate lights.
I have Laser Interceptor on all my vehicles. It is considered the best laser jammer and fully legal.
Yeah I've heard tons of good things about the laser interceptor :D

Do you have a link to the kit?

It should plug right into the mirror without any further splicing.

It's very easy. I highly recommend purchasing the V1 carry case and concealed display when your purchase your V1.

Ebay also has a visor mount that attaches to the sun visor, so there's nothing on the windshield or you can use the factory mount. You'll need an extra 8 ft phone cord (there's one that already comes with the V1).

If you're buying your V1 directly from Valentine 1 you're in good hands. If you're buying on Ebay/Cragislist, always insist on a serial # so you can check if it's stolen or not.

I'll post some pictures of my setup soon.

It's looks like this kit:

I would think that you could test the wires with a volt-meter and that would tell you which ones to use. Takes a little trouble shooting, but it should be able to be done that way.

+1, that is correct. :)
Well, I bought the Valentine1 lastnight...now I think i'm gonna buy this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VALENTINE-ONE-1...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41415c5aeb

I'm pretty sure I could make a cord like this pretty easily but for the price it's not worth my time.

and more importantly I need to get a mount that attaches to the rearview mirror...blendmount makes a nice one but $79.99 or whatever is pretty expensive for what it is...if blendmount has some sort of promotion I may pick one up otherwise I'll find something else..

Nice. That is the same wiring kit I got for my passport. I just can't figure it out!! Hopefully you have better luck and can enlighten me. I tried using a volt meter but the prongs were too big to fit into the plug so I couldn't find the positive.
^^^ if I get some time over the next couple of days I will check mine and let you know.

Do you have the new mirror style? I had mine replaced under the TSB so I'm not sure what color wire I'll need to tap when I get my direct wire connection from ebay. Thanks.
All V1 accessories can be found at:

Unless you're really set on hardwiring it to your mirror.

I would go with the V1 hardwire kit and the concealed display and this:

Cut a square on the right side of the gate for the rear antenna and you're golden.

Nobody can see this install from the outside.
