Raced an RS4

After weeks of driving round hoping for someone in a decent car would try to race me i finally got my wish. Was driving down the motorway to my wifes parents house and noticed a car approaching from behind quickly. I noticed it was a red rs4 saloon and he slowed next to me (about 80mph). I imediately put it into manual and sports mode and floored it. I left him standing and then slowed for him to pass me. He was going a fair speed when he overtook me then i planted it again and was right behind him until he moved over and i sailed past him surprisingly easy. Was a great buzz and i shocked how much quicker the isf was.

One Word: TORQUE!!!
thats right the audi really just doesn't compare to the rest of the class. I had someone ask me the other day why didn't you get the audi and I told him because it didn't even come close to the F or M3.
the only place a rs4 might have an advantage is from a stop seeing it's awd. it has less torque and more weight. i had a 08 rs4 and the is f feels quicker to me. for this and a few other reasons is why i dumped the rs4 for the is f.

Yeh iv been asked twice why i didnt just buy an RS4. The ISF is just so much nicer to :)
Maybe he wasn't pushing it? I have cars come up to me all the time but I don't race all the time. I'll pull next to the car for curiosity. I still love the looks for the RS4. :)
He definitely was racing at the speeds he was doing... i was just doing more :)
The RS4 is not a straight line bruiser. The ISF will eat it for lunch but on a longer road course the RS4 may surprise you.

I raced a 2005 RS6 about three months ago, and pulled on it. It definitely has more power than the ISF, but is heavier. Still, I was surprised at beating it, with its 450 BHP twin turbo V8.
Rock, what course is that? And who's this Horst guy?

Horst von Saurma-Jeltsch is the chief editor of the German automobile magazine sport auto. He has had a brief racing career but is best-known for skillful driving at the Nürburgring.

A well-known feature of sport auto is the "Supertest", wherein Saurma tests sports cars at their limit on the track (using fully road-legal trim) and their resulting lap times at the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring are compared. In 2004, Saurma set the Nürburgring lap record for a production car by taking the Porsche Carrera GT around in 7 minutes 32 seconds[3]. Saurma's laps for sport auto are often taken as benchmark times for their respective vehicles.
Hey Rock, thanks for the info. I didn't know one guy's times were considered the benchmark there.
8:18 for the ISF huh...I bet it would do substantially better if Lexus hadn't equipped it with such narrow rubber. I mean, come on! 225 front and 255 rear is pretty narrow for a 3780 lb sports car...I run the same size rubber on my wife's S2000, and it weights a 1000 lbs less.

I agree completely. I was surprised at how narrow the tyres were also.
