Proud new ISF owner...coming from BMW world

After 4.5 years with my E46 BMW M3, I was fed up with German quality and decided to get back into the Japanese market. Here's my new (to me) 08 Smokey Granite ISF. Nothing very special about it...but am excited to find out all the mods the ISF world has to offer.

....Okay, I tried to post links to pics I have on imageshack, but it appears I need at least 10 posts to do so. Pics to come soon

Welcome and I am sure you will soon see there is something special about your IS F as it not only is a great car, the more you drive it, the more you appreciate what it is and it's capability.

Steve
It's only been a day since I've had the ISF, and I've grown to love it more already. Things I love so far about the ISF:

1) THE INTAKE SWITCH OVER AT 3600 RPM!!!

2) Nice tall 8th gear for decent fuel economy

3) The torque...this is my first time owning a V8 car...and there is NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!
Congratulations...you will definitely enjoy this car. I disagree with you that there is nothing special about it, but you will quickly realize this. Have fun with the modding.
Yeah, I can't wait to start modding mine. Some small stuff on my list are white foglights and DRLs, GPS unlock, and maayyyybe an intake.

Anybody know a good place to get GPS unlock?
The plug and play Navi unlock can be bought from Clark Ishahara <-- I think that is how it is spelled, over at http://www.vipautosalon.com I got mine on Ebay for a good price though and haven't seen it back on Ebay since. I installed it myself.

How do you compare the ride from your M3?
I GUESS I AM JUST STUPID ... what does the Navi unlock do??
It lets you plug in destinations while driving and I believe unlock the DVD while driving as well.

It unlocks the entire Nav/ML system while in motion. It allows the touch screen to be used while moving, I suggest letting the passenger do it though, at least for some of the more demanding functions like entering an address, but dialing a phone number is pretty easy. It will also allow you to play a DVD while driving. I like this function when I play music DVD's or I got the kids in the back seat.

Basically everything that you can do when the car is in park, you can do when you are driving.
@ F'naround...

The handling in the ISF is great, but at the limits, the M3 is much more composed. I feel more connected to the road in the M3, as the steering communicates more to to.

On the flip side, the ride in the ISF is more refined. Going over bumpy roads doesn't rattle my teeth out. Also, I love the dual personality of the intake - it's quiet and refined in regular driving but gets throaty and visceral past 3600 rpm.

Nice! I am going to look into getting this as it would be much more convenient.

Thanks
The E46 is old technology and a 6. I am sure the power is a big change for you :)
The 08 and up M3 with the V8 is a beast too, just too expensive. I love my F.
Do you have to e-mail them at VIP Auto Salon to order the Nav/DVD unlock? I didn't see a link to any particular product. Thanks.

Check this thread. It should have everything you need to contact Clark. He is a good guy. I bought my Tien springs from him. Make sure you mention this forum.
