Proposed jail time for speeds over 100mph

In the Nebraska legislature there is a proposed new bill that would mandate that for speed violations over 100mph a night in jail would be mandatory, over 120mph two nights and so on.
This is for first violations!
Any other states or municipalities have anything like this?

There goes test drive fun in Nebraska! I haven't heard/seen anything like this in OH yet.
Damn Straight! Not too many twisties here in God's Country. So much for the straight line fun!!
xray- when you get pulled over, trying saying "eh" after each sentence, and tell them you're Canadian, and thought you were going 101Kph, not Mph....might work once, lol
Um, sure. I think that might work?!

Let me now if that works for you. :D
Haha to the Canadian comment!

In Texas if you get caught doing double you spend a night in jail under reckless endangerment, failure to control speed. If your street racing and doing that much, car is impounded, you go to jail for a night to begin with then they charge you with a felony...they don't mess around

being a Canadian living in Canada i can assure you that we do not say "eh" after every sentence. come to think of it the only time we do say "eh" is when we do it on purpose and have a laugh at the stupid belief that we do say "eh" when in fact we do not.

but its nice to know you're thinking of us ;) <3
No offence intended, eh?
sorry, i can't help myself. I realize "eh" doesn't follow every sentence, but i do wonder at the pronunciation of "about"....
Oh, and i'm only an hour from Canada, we love you guys!
its about. not aboot.

a-bow-t
In Ontario, Canada, the penalty for going 50km/h above the speed limit will get your car impounded for a week or two, a big fine and maybe even a suspended license.
Makes me glad i only live 1 & 1/2 hours from Watkins Glen!!
I used to live in Bellevue, NE and the cops had the whole state fearful of driving 5 mph over on any street. Most people drove the speed limit or less. That's the way I remember it, anyway. Circa 1993.

Anything change?

"Usually" 5 mph or less over and they will not bother you. I'm in Lincoln where they are notorious for being pretty picky and that seems to hold true. Same for the Hwy Patrol. Some of the local municipal police departments may be worse, can't say that I have had any bad experiences in Bellevue, but I don't get that way very much.

I guess the "night in jail" that is being proposed is what got my attention more than anything! Maybe the legislature will reject it!
