Just when i thought it couldn't get worse it has. I hate my car despite the fact that i love it. My car has roughly 18K miles on it and i just dropped it off for service and here is what i got:

20K service- Oil Change, Filters, Etc- $556.75

2 hours later i get a second call and here is the great news. Car needs new tires, front brake pads/Rotors (second time in 18K miles), and rear brake pads/ rotors.

Grand Total: $4956.83

What the F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this normal? I do only city driving, never been to a track or out of the city... This cannot be normal am i being taken for a ride? I told my guy to hold off on the brakes and tires but apparently it needs to be changed bad! how could this be? I've had cars for 3 years without changing tires... Please help.....

No that doesn't sound normal at all I own an auto repair shop and I checked my brakes last week and they are about 60% worn so I can probably go another 5k at least with no worries. The tires I did replace once at 19K. IMO you should take your F somewhere else for a second look. And why did your 20k service cost you $550.00? that sounds a little high to me. Good luck
18k is where my tires ran out. I just replaced the brakes on the front at 22k but could see a dealer advising replacement when I replaced the tires due to rotor wear. I agree get a second opinion on the brakes but the tires are very very soft compounds and wear quickly. Get an all season radial like the Michelin PS2 etc and that will last 40 or so.
I'll definitely get a second opinion and check out those tires. Thanks a lot!

Don't get anything change yet. Get the car back, check everything by yourself then decide if they need or not be changed. The dealers tend to exagerate the actual wear of consumable parts on which they make more benefits.

I had the 10K service done yesterday and was advised both front and rear tires are badly worn. I did not get them changed. I verified them at home and they have more than 5mm thread left, they are a bit worn on the inside and outside edge du to track use but other than that, they do not need to be changed anytime soon . My front brake pads on the other hand are 1mm from the threshold and will be swapped for Hawk HPS soon.
How the heck did they determine the rotors need replaced? That does not seem right.

Here is a brake thread from CL. It has brakes that you can do yourself. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f/489822-complete-is-f-brake-thread-under-construction.html

I have 20k on the F and my service was less than 50 bucks with me bringing my own oil! The stealership will get you on brakes it is way over priced from what others have said on CL. But for you to have to replace the brakes at 18k is crazy and if true then your driving style is probably pretty aggressive. They told me at the 20k service that my brakes looked good and they are the stock brakes.
GET THE SECOND OPINION!!! Wow that is some steep pricing. Good luck.

Is someone else driving this car besides you? Are you telling us the whole story?

20k service pricing you have seems abnormal to me as well. Our 20k service is $152.08 on the IS-F INCLUDING a new battery for your remote!

Front tires I could see as a possibility at 18k miles but not all new front and rear brakes. Especially if the fronts have already been done. Get a second opinion, please.
Im the only one driving the car. I do a lot of highway driving on my way to and back from work. Other than that nothing abnormal. Never been to a track and never been on a long distance trip. Quite frankly i was shocked and my sale person seems to be shocked as well which is why they are offering to put me in an LS. But i am trying to get that second opinion; should i go to a different lexus dealer or just to a shop?

If you have a local shop that you trust I would go to them. Good luck hope this works out for you.
I'm confused---in your first post you say you only do city driving and in your second post you say you do a lot of highway driving. Can't be both, can it?
Dealer will always recommend replace rotors! They propably can be machined but will be more proned to warping!
But if tires are bald and doing city driving sounds like you drive car hard. I'm at 22,000miles and still have 40% left on front brakes and I autocross.
