parking break

Question for you guys out there.

Should I be using the parking break everytime I park, regardless of if its on a hill or not? Does it really take the pressure/weight off the transmission?

I've never owned a manual, so I'm not used to it, but it seems like a good idea.
What are you thoughts?

Yes. The parking pawl (the mechanicsm that keeps your car from rolling forward or backward) is not designed to carry weight like a parking brake. Especially when parking on a hill, engage the parking brake first, release the main brake, then put it in park.
