Just raced my first IS F yesterday...Im a G8 owner...seeing if that owner is on the boards here yet lol

Racing the ISF

So what happened with the race....tell us more.

Was it from a standing start or rolling? How bad did you get beat?

You should've waited for the 2009/2010 G8 GXP!! With 402HP /402TQ and 0-60 time at about 4.7 sec.....MAYBE.... you might give the IS-F a run for the money...MAYBE...LOL .Nice car though!!

OK , I will be honest here...I am not the type of guy to mislead or think my car will beat anything and everything..
It really wasnt a race...Since I was rolling up to him to check out the ride..only him and I where at the light...I knew enough about his car and mine that I would surely not win a stop light race..unless he had a horrible launch..
I looked at him briefly as I pulled up and he looked straight ahead not even noticing me.( so i thought) .. I was looking at his Nice Pearl White paint and the grahite wheel set up..kinda spacing out after a 10 hr work day.when all the sudden he lit them up and was off at the green...He probally was across the interesection before I even looked back up....I paused a good second and half...than tried to catch up....
Well that didnt happen....the 2000 ft or so to the freeway there is an on ramp and he took it like at least 90mph.....I knew I didnt really wanna push my car that hard in a corner...the stock suspension is OK...I have the 18s all seasonal tires though...gives up alot vs the 19" avail summer tires ( the only option I dont have- the car at the dealer that had them ..didnt have a sunroof.I wanted the sunroof more..and plan to get a more custom looking lightweight 20 " wheel later this summer ( HOLDEN HSV ). any how...the time I am on the freeway on the straight..the guy is a good..15 cars ahead of me...I am going like at least 120 mph by now...( my car has some power lol)
..and he slows dramatically...and I catch up side by side..hes exiting. but I lower my 5% tinted passenger side window and give a thumbs up....HE is looking now...obvisouly smiling big...having I think felt satisfied with his kill lol

Well I had to turn in a company car lease...and randomly called the dealer back in 1st week March since I have been following the car for about the last year and half on the AU websites.....he said he wont have any until at least 90 days..but took my number...He called the next day..saying everyone was surprised that 3 showed up and even the owner was shocked...it took them the entire day to find out what SKU to sell it under in the computer...I came after work and took one home that night..for the deal I got...and knowing the GXP was at least another 10 months behind....I wanted it...
As far as the power of the GXP ... I currently added a Roto Fab intake.. dyno tested to add 21 hp to the rear...I put high flow mufflers on the rear..withing 12 hours of owning the car....Stock is 361 HP and 385 torque at the fly wheel.. stock 0 to 60 is 5.3 avg...I guesstimate I am at 385 Flywheel and probaly 395 ish torque.... I am probaly around 5.1 to 60 right now..
I ordered a very reasearched and developed ECM and TCM ( 6 sp auto ) software upgrade from Vector Motorsports...there intake and ECU combo is worth 43-45 hp...( I have the exact intake) .. multiple cars have been dynoed tested.. at the same time I am ordering a Heat Soak Reduction Kit and Powerbond Pulley ( coming withing 10 business days) this together should be worth around 55 hp from the stock 361....what puts me around 416 hp.(HMM close to other cars I know of hehe)..I got the car for $31K will have less than $1600 in mods..
Intake =$300, exhaust $200 , ECU / TCM upgrade $400, HSRK $99 , 25% reduction power bond crank pulley $400
The archilles heel in our car...well is the programming of both the ECM and TCM ( 6 sp auto controller)...The car only runs of 87 octane with the stock tune..I will tune it for 91 octane ( its cali you cant get better like you 93 guys outa state) but the main improvement is getting rid of the soft and SLOOOW shift points of the A6 tranny...its bullit proof...already holding up in new Corvettes with superchargers..but you must have the tune for sport shift to shift "sporty" > the feedback is Night and day from over 100 current reviews..so ANy how ..the car this month should on paper be in the 400 HP range...running on 91 octane..have a properly tuned AUTO and ECU for the mods I have...and total car price with mods is less than $35K. The GTP base probaly will be $38K plus the Gas Guzzler of at least $2000 and mark ups So I think I will have 99% of what a GXP would be for $5K less...( Hey I am on a budget) lol
The re -race I am inviting anyone by end of July can be at a track...Sacramento raceway...and will video and post pics..if any challengers...I think...well I might have a chance...If I lose that race..than my 4 month budgeted plan of adding long tube headers from AMR who showed a 40 HP gain over stock...( but cost $1700 ) will be coming alot sooner lol. I think with the mods I have the Long tubes will add another 20 HP to my baseline...maybe 436 ish? A Dyno test will def happen by August !

They are still pretty rare...sales for all V8 specialty cars are slowing down...just like you dont see too many IS F running around...
People ask me as I am sure they will ask you..what the heck is that??
If your in Texas or Cali you might run into a G8 owner that has the exact mods I have listed above..I am copying there proven formula...with just the bolts ons the TX guy ran 12.7 in the quarter...and a G8 with 19s with the Pedders suspension kit pulls .95 Gs....ya never know .No one has tried the Headers yet..they just came out ( the waiting game sucks..I am sure you guys will go through it too) but The stock exhaust is very limited.and supposed to really wake up the car..besides the dyno number the SOTP feel is night and day.plus the SOUND. There already are supercharger kits...but thats my 2 year plan...when I think high or mid 12s arent enough..not bad for a 3950 pound 4 door hehe

The G8 is one slick looking ride. Pontiac has done a great job with this one imho.

I havent seen any IS Fs around..just like my G8 ...
I would love to own one of these one day.
