I have been doing a lot of research trying to find that perfect wheel/tire combination. In the end I may end up having custom rims made, but what do you all think about this combination?

Volk CE28N
18x8.5 40mm inset - F - 16lbs each
18x9.5 47mm inset - R - 17lbs each

Continental ExtremeContact DW
255/40R18 - F - 26" - 26lbs
285/35R18 - R - 25.9" - 28lbs

I think this combo should fit perfectly, and would have a 36lb total weight saving over stock wheels with REO50As (-8lbs each front and -10lbs each rear)...not too shabby 36 lbs reduction in unsprung weight and 30mm more rubber all around. My only problem with this combination is that Volks are expensive, and for that money I could spend just a bit more and get light weight custom wheels made for the car.

That is one of my questions that is still outstanding. I don't know if it will clear or not.

why would you wanna put 18's on this car?? she needs 20's!!!! do you use her for racing?? even so, u probably wouldnt get grip would ypu??? whats your plan my man!! :)
I don't race the car, but I do like having every ounce of performance for the street (if I went to the track a lot, I would likely run 285/35R18s all around). I would never put heavier 20 inch wheels on my car...I can't justify more money, less performance, and likely a harsher ride. I certainly don't think the stock 19s look too small. I haven't made up my mind yet whether or not 18s would look too small or not. Look at the E63 AMG though...it rides stock on 18s, and AMG division knows what they are doing.
