Lexus has filed a trademark application for 'LC F' in Europe, confirming that a sportier version of the sexy, rear-drive coupe is in the works.

It’s no secret the Lexus LC F is coming, with previous reports saying the high-performance variant has been approved by Toyota president Akio Toyoda. Although Lexus itself hasn’t confirmed it’s in the works, it makes sense considering the automaker’s push for its F performance sub-brand, which currently offers the RC F and GS F variants.

It is expected that the LC F will have more aggressive styling along with various aerodynamic bits and carbon fiber. Don’t be surprised if Lexus draws some inspiration from its LFA supercar.

It’s unclear what will power the Lexus LC F, but rumors say it could be a twin-turbo V8 engine pushing around 600 horsepower. The Lexus RC F and GS F models are powered by a 5.0-liter V8 with 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque without the aid of any forced induction.

Don’t expect to see the Lexus LC F this year, since it’s expected to debut in 2018. The company could surprise us with a thinly veiled concept, however, to get people excited for the real deal.

Well of course Lexus has to file for their trademarks ahead of time. These days the car industry is really getting so competitive. Especially with the electric market. Sure they'll all have their staple models that will draw the crowds, but they need to also dip their toes into that segment too!
