Welcome to the site! Tell us a little more about yourself! Feel free to ask any questions you might have!
:cool:Welcome to the F family!
Tell us a bit...when you got it, color, mods, etc.
As far as learning goes, that's pretty much why we are all here, and we love talking cars. If you can't find what your looking for in a search let us know, we would be glad to help.
Where in TN are you? East? Knoxville? Close to the 129? I would love to run a F through there!!

Welcome!
Newbie with questions

Just bought March 20th, 08 IS-F UBM with white leather seats. Already had KN intake, new tires and Lojack installed. So far I love it. It needs front and rear brakes, I'm quickly learning that it will be quite an expense. Any thoughts on that would be great. Also, upon full acceleration there seems to be a pause between shifts. Is this normal? Could it have anything to do with the intake? What are some of the more beneficial performance mods to make?

Thanks for any imput

Welcome again. You can find various types of brake pads and rotors through venders on here and CL at a discount so you don't have to pay so much at the dealership. Below is a thread talked about the various types of break pads available for the F. Some are low dust, some give up a little from the stock performance, others are better, some are equal to the stock ones, etc. Take a look and see if you find any that you like. I'd also contact Sewell or Carson Toyota (located in Dallas and California, respectively) to find out about any possible discounts on rotors and such for being a Club Lexus member (join over there, search for their names and shoot them a PM, they can help you all through the site.

Secondly, the lag you feel when accelerating, I'm assuming thats when you press fully on the peddle or close to full peddle push, correct? That's been an issue among a few F's here and there, some notice it more than others. I would venture to say it's a software issue that Lexus needs to have resolved but no fix has come out yet. If you want to get rid of the lag a little, buy a throttle controller (either Blitz or Toms). They help to increase throttle sensitivity and reduce that lag.

Thirdly, I would do a search for K&N Intakes and such on here to find out more information about it, especially if you're going to get rid of it. There are other intakes such as the Joe Z and Takeda that keep the intake at the stock dual stage while giving you a little more ponies. The K&N takes away the dual stage intake setup. There are also worries of heatsoak under hot weather conditions, a search would turn up how some people helped fix this problem. There are various (although not an over-abundance) aerodynamic and interior parts you can buy through various venders as well as wheel setups, exhausts and a few other engine mods that you can find online as well.

Hope I didn't bore you and this information helps. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Blitz controller

After a little research, this looks like something I'd like to have. After a quick google search there are several companies that carry the product. On Blitz website it lists the part no as 10407. This part no is the same for IS250 350 Yaris and one other car. Is it the same contoller exactly or is the same part no tuned differently for each engine? Some websites list them all in one listing, others are for specific cars. I guess what I'm wondering... If it is listed with the part no and says its for a IS350 will it work for the F?

Let me double check for you, give me about a day or so to get a part number.
Just finished installing Blitz unit. It took a little longer than anticipated, but I wanted to make sure it was right. It was too late to try it tonight so I cant wait till morning. I'm having a hard time deciding where to mount the display. Anyone have suggestions on what worked well for you?

I was just coming on here to give you the specific parts numbers for the blitz and Toms controllers but it seems like you already beat me to it

I have mine mounted right below the CD player, in the center of the car. I have the wire pulled tight over the seek buttons on the left and then down under the dash where the control unit is. I've seen it placed right above or below the Sport and Traction buttons as well as on the other side near the trunk/gas tank buttons. It's just going to depend on what you like most. I personally but it in the middle just cause I thought it flowed well in the car there, the wire you can barely notice. If you don't want anyone to know you have one, but it over on the left side of the steering wheel next to the change holder and trunk/gas tank buttons.
Well, What do you think of it? Did it help with the lag in the shift you've been noticing? Like BigMike said, it depends on where you want it. I've seen it installed on the left of the steering wheel myself.
Well worth it

I installed my Blitz and put the display to the left of the steering wheel at the seam just above the change holder. So far, I have found that I like to leave mine on sp2. It did not help the pause between shifts at full throttle acceleration. I'm not quite sure whats going on there. It's the only one I have driven so I have no other point of reference. Anyone else have this issue?

Nice choice on the color, and the intake is a big plus.

As for the brakes, you might want to check with DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) about replacement rotors as opposed to the Brembo. Hawk pads would be nice as well. You can get slotted or cross drilled 2 piece rotors.

I would do some research and find out with fluids you need for flushing and get all the major fluids flushed. (Trans, coolant, rear diff and ofcourse engine oil)

The Joe Z exhaust is another awesome addition to this car as seen on youtube.

I said all that, and I don't even have my IS-F yet. :)
