its not a drop in filter its a whole intake that was replaced by stock intake and they dynoed it

so they claimed it gave 30 whp and they dyno'd it, were u there when they dyno'd? Did u dyno your car stock first before they slapped this intake on?

Reasons why I ask this is because if you weren't there when K&N dyno'd your car then I wouldn't trust what they've claim on gains...look at SRT claimed 20 whp 20 lbs tq @ the wheels and alot of people did not even get close to that. Also it's actually quite easy to find out if your intake gained 30 whp or not. Just go dyno it yourself from stock and then the K&N intake next.

even if it is true, i am not putting that thing in my car. K & N ususally increase horsepower by allowing more air in( beside cold air intakes). their filters usually requires oiling and the filter efficiency is very different when freshly oiled vs aged. their filters may allow more contaiminants to enter the combustion chamber when air flow is increased. in 20-30k miles, there is probably not going to be any sifnificant or noticeable damage, but i am not sure what would happen after 50k miles.

persanlly, i am happy with 416 healthy horses. a few additional horses is not going to make a ~ 3860 lb car ( at least 4000 lbs if you include the driver) run significantly faster. if one is serious about improving speed, forced induction is a more realistic approach. the law of diminishing return does apply when it comes to speed. to get that additional reduction of 1/2 seconds off 0-60 or 1/4 miles is going to take a lot more than a few simple inexpensive mods. just my 2 cents.

One thing I've noticed is that K&N intakes tend to increase HP/TQ on poorly designed (American) cars, yet don't do anything for better designed Toyota/Lexus makes. I have a very built Toyota Tacoma and while K&N claims a good HP increase with their FIPK intake system, it actually dyno'd LESS HP than stock when dyno'd by another individual. I highly doubt K&N's kit will do anything for the IS-F, let alone 30HP. They also use super high flow filters that let a lot more dirt through as well. I peronally would never buy anything from them.

unfortunately, this is true with many mods.

Still no mention of anything on the K&N website about any intake or replacement filter. I wonder if this will actually be released, I'm curious as to the real world gains
