I just bought an '08 Obsidian ML/NAV with 15 miles on it. I have to admit, I'm feeling rather bittersweet right now. Sweet that I have such an amazing car (I hope), but a bit sad now since I bought it on impulse. I've been reading these forums for a short time now, and initially I wasn't really looking to buy so soon, but I finally stepped foot in the dealership today and bought it on the spot. I was hoping to hold off a few months before I seriously bought since I really was looking for a SGM and wasn't in a hurry, but one look and I was done, =( Hopefully I'll feel better about the purchase in a few days, maybe you other ISF owners can cheer me up and tell me I made a great investment :) I also got all the road hazard warranty and extended warranty, and prepackaged service checks...not really sure if that was a good idea, but the finance man sure convinced me quickly that it was worth it.

I'm worried also about the maintenance on black...which was the reason I was looking at SGM. I'm getting the clear bra (dealer had said something about their clearbra didn't wrap the bumper said that people found that they didn't like it, but I insisted on having it there as well so I don't know if that was a good move), lojack and 30% tints done this week so I should have it back by Friday. It's rainy here so the car doesn't look so great. Hopefully I can get some pictures this weekend :D

If you have an ounce of sports car enthusiam in your bones, it is going to provide you with loads and loads of fun. Consider signing yourself up for a drivers school at Road Atlanta in Braselton with your IS-F. I had participated in a 3 day racing school in the Panoz race cars there and that track is incredible! You will be amazed at what the IS-F is capable of.

I resided in Marietta for about 5 years, which dealer did you get your IS-F from?
Oh definitely ready to get into a sporty car. I'm by no means a hardcore racer or will be taking the car to the track every weekend, but I need a refreshing change. I have been driving my old 1994 LS400. While it was a great car, it was definitely not meant for sportiness. The reliability I had with it was probably a big reason I went with Lexus over the M3s or the S4s. I actually live in Vinings/Marietta area so I went up the street to Nalley, hope I didn't pick a bad one!

Yea, I've been thinking about going to one of those racing schools sometime ever since I thought about getting this car. Probably won't be able to go anytime soon though since I'm pretty busy nowadays, but hopefully I'll find time to go down there sometime. I've been out to Road Atlanta before for Petit Le Mans races so I know that track is great.

Some questions for you guys on the forum. I've been perusing these forums this week and it seems that I should be bedding in my brakes. Can anyone confirm or deny that I should do this? I will get my car back tomorrow and it has 15 miles on it. I don't think I will be able to do this immediately, so if I need to do this, does it have to be done right now? What's people getting out of their brakes? Seems to be around 13-17k for "normal" (as if any of us with this car are normal) drivers :D Anyways, any insight from you guys would help.

Sorry if I'm a newbie and this question has been answered 5 billion times. Any other tips I should be aware of or that I should do for a new car? Thanks in advance. I definitely am glad to be part of this forum, you guys all seem to be very helpful and nice.

Some good buy stories here...love it, lowrider...and OP, don't worry one bit. I did not want to buy now...I kept telling myself, you have a perfectly fine car, you don't need this vehicle, economy is in the dumps, conserve ALL your cash, think about refinancing your house, etc. etc. etc.

Well, once I drove the car, it was about 80% over right then. I pulled a purchase forward to December because I got a good deal on the price and the financing was awesome....

prices may keep going down, who knows...I am guessing that Lexus will severly cut production of these cars in '09 and try to keep the prices a bit closer to msrp....it's good for the brand and good for resale to not discount too much, even though we all like big bucks off.....I was orig . in the market for a '09 G37 sedan, Audi A4, or TL until I actually saw a TL...for a few thou more, I have a truly awesome car. :D
Yes, I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not the only one with the impulsive buy stories :D Mondo, it sounds like your route to the car happened virtually the same as mine. I was originally in the market for an '09 G37 sedan, the new Audi A4/S4 (S4 was a bit out of picture since it isn't out yet), and I had already ruled out the new TL after I saw what it looked like. Ultimately I came to the same conclusion as you - for a few thousand more I have the Lexus quality I wanted with the extra sportiness I craved.
