manual mode?

So when you put the IS-F into manual mode, aren't you supposed to get beeps to know when to shift? My IS-F does not beep when I put it into manual mode? Is there an option for that or what? Thanks.

Great news pc1990.... No ISF beeps when u put it in MM. It only beeps when u depress the throttle pedal to near redline as a clue to select a new gear. Good luck with that.
Hate to say it, but your owners manual is a wealth of knowledge. ;)
ok? I thought I'd get quicker answers here, but guess not.
Yes your going to get beeps in manual mode. When your driving it, do you go WOT until redline? They typically don't go off until right at redline to remind you to shift.

You can also get the beeps in auto mode. If your driving in auto and tap the paddles, it lets you control shifting with the paddles and you can get the beeps if you get close to the redline as well.
you think the dealership could turn the beeping off?

annoying?
i personaly would not turn it off just like in a manual u could blow your engine i like to consentrate on my driveing especialy when im on a track where you have a lot going on, just my 2 cents

Last I heard there was no way to turn it off

what's the point of turning it off? do you want to keep your car red lining constantly? if you want to have red line limiter removed, then it makes some sense, but then you risk damaging your engine.
um.....just cuz there wouldnt be a beep doesnt mean you would redline constantly. not only would you feel the car slam into the limiter, but you would hear the engine rev, and you should be able to see that gauge.

sorry i dont need an annoying BEEP to tell me when i have to shift gears....

i guess multi-tasking comes more naturally to some of us??

How much track time have you had? I find that I am concentrating much more in that setting on where I am going, and the rev limiter beep lets me know to shift before I run into the fuel cutoff, saving me time on the lap:cool:
if everyone concentrated so hard on driving the line how does everyone with a normal manual survive? there's no audible hints other then engine rev's and exhaust noise.

i feel like im being hated on here.

instead of listening for a ****ing BEEP (which I personally just find ANNOYING) i listen to the engine and glance at the gauge when it sounds about right...

maybe look a little farther down the track. it's not like the course is forever changing while you are driving around it. its the same, over and over and over.
Nobody's hating on you. I am pointing out that I use the beeps to my advantage. My question about track time is just that, a question. Some people have zero track time in this car and that is ok as well.

My old STI beeped too and it was a manual.:D Just playing!;)
i had an 88 RX7 that beeped, but after a while i go used to it.
I like the beeping so much I made it my ringtone...... KIDDING.. truth be told I so happy driving an ISF I could care less if it beeps, quacks, or bitches like an X wife. The noise I hate most about the ISF is the sirens in the backround, NATCH!!! The car is great. Driving it to FLA from NY this friday. Farthest trip yet.. Hope I dont get ass fucked by the local Constabulary on my way down.. Wish me luck.
Alex- got any radar detector in your F? I've only driven mine few hundred miles so far here in NY, but man, that Escort has already paid dividends!

my biggests complaint with the F is that it is so freaking fast, i cannot enjoy it on public roads. sometimes i feel like my money was wasted because i really can't use all those horses.
