Here's the thing...although it may seem like BS to you. Toyota and other companies do infact look into the history of a car in case something happens. Do not let anyone tell you differently. From what I hear, Toyota is not all that great with honoring warranties. But let them inspect the car just to make sure everything is good.
Maintenance required to maintain warranty
Hey all,
Does anybody know what maintenance is required to maintain warranty? I was looking over the scheduled maintenance, and most of it seems to be basic inspections that Lexus is charging big money for. I was thinking of just having them change my oil, and bringing them the oil I want to be used.
In the maintenance schedule, it has stuff like rotating tires, which doesn't get done on our cars. ??? I wasn't paying attention and ended up paying an extra 90 dollars at the 10,000 mile service for them to "inspect a few basic things that I could have done myself in two seconds. I am coming up on 15,000 miles now and only want to get the things done that are necessary, not all this superfluous BS.

It would be hard to impossible to make a claim later on if there is no history. Although you can bring whatever replacement part or oil to them and let them do the job.
Let me ask you this guys... what happens if you bought the IsF used and you need warranty work but dont have any records of maintenance?? Dont let the dealership push you around saying you need this or that... There is really no excuse for them to not honor the warranty,, unless you have lowering springs on and complain about the struts. or if you have nitrous and complain about the piston rings. etc...
I think it will vary by the dealer. I would think that most of them would push for work covered by warranty since it is a guaranteed payday for them. I might be wrong, but this is just my experience with my Toyota. I never get any maintenace done at the dealer since it is so far away from me, and my brother is a Service Manager for another company so I get my work done cheap from him.
My vehicle is being very well maintained, and I am keeping records of everything that is done. It just seems like every 5,000 miles, lexus has another "scheduled maintenance", many of which include nothing of substance.
yeah,, like you say,, most of the "maintenance intervals" are mainly,, check fluid level, which most of us can do,, rotate tires, which doesnt apply to our cars, check air filter,, check battery,, read it carefully,, its always "CHECK" this and that. The only thing that they mainly do is CHANGE your oil and filter for $150.....
I would say that the major turn off for my car is the maintenance. Every 5k miles its costing a couple of hundred dollars. Not counting when brakes need to be changed and its costing a couple of thousands. It is pretty annoying and sometimes makes me regret not going for a car with maintenance included. I've spent at least 2K on the car over the first 15k miles.... kind of hurts when i couldve used that cash for mods 
I plan on changing the oil every 5K miles and I think it is brake fluid every 30K. That seems to be pretty much it as far as fluids go. I can do air/cabin filters myself. I don't see how they can deny a claim if you keep documentation of any regular maintenance done.
I bought my car with 6k miles on from the dealer ship that performed the 1K and 5K services...there is only a dealership stamp in the manual...nothing individually checked or itemized so as far as I know they just changed the oil.
I will check to see how much my dealership wants to change the oil/filter. If it is too expensive I will take it somewhere else. I can do the rest myself.
