See more photos of the Lexus RC F at AutoGuide.comWhen Lexus released its new generation of IS sport sedans, it wasn’t shy about targeting BMW’s 3 Series. Now the Japanese brand is turning its crosshairs to the Bavarian brand’s more venerable M models with this: the RC F.
Built by its F performance division, the newest Lexus performance product is powered by a V8, following in the wake of its four-door IS-F. Official output figures haven’t been released yet, but early rumors suggest it could have upwards of 460 hp. The current sedan offers 420 and you can expect this V8 to be a massaged version of the 5.0-liter V8 found there.
Chances are good that Lexus will also turn again to the same eight-speed automatic transmission found in the IS-F and IS 350 F-Sport models.
With more details sure to come soon, the photos that just leaked on Road & Track reveal some information of their own. The car will carry similar stacked exhaust pipes to the sedan it replaces along with massively flared rear fenders and the same grabbing styling found over the entire Lexus line. The hood sits noticeably higher in order to accommodate the bulky engine, and the rear decklid has as speed-sensitive spoiler.
