Lexus is planning a successor to the retired SC430 model that should put it back in contention with the Mercedes SL. The new car is rumored to wear the LC600h badge and that name says a lot. Using a shortened version of the next generation LS platform the LC would be AWD and use an updated version of the 5.0-liter hybrid V8 engine producing as much as 500-hp and making for a 0-60 mph time of under five seconds..
Like the now retired SC, it would get a retractable hard top and be more focused on luxury and refinement than the LFA – which will unequivocally wear the performance crown for the brand.
With the next LS due out in 2014, expect the LC600h to follow.
