OK all you F-Heads I did read all of the existing threads on ISF brake pads.
And it seams that there a lot of front pads made for our cars but what about the rears (if you're gunna do a full brake job you might as well do the rears too.)
No lecture on brake bias required for me...
It looks like EBC is the only vendor offering both front and rear pads, but it seems that Hawk HPS is probably the preferred pad.
And yes I am willing to clay bar my wheels due to the agressive brake dust coming from my brakes. Performance rules over pretty for me...
So what is the best complete brake job pad solution?
Please give me the most up-to-date info here... not a link to some two year old info...
here is what i went with. added braided lines to the package.put on in January.great performance for my driving style.(agressiveish) bites hard, yes there is brake dust less than factory but we are runnin cheese graters here folks, stoptech and centric package from injected performance
Project Mu's would be great, but where can you find a set in stock? The dealer I have seen does not have any in stock and it takes a month or two to get them.
Hiya, question just recently change my front pads on my F from stock to Stoptech...all is well but month later I notice a little vibration during mid speed braking. You can really feel it on the steering wheels and its bothersome, my piece of shiet civic didnt do this. I dont beat on her so was wondering what can be the cause? She has 17k miles 08' my rotors are bad?
I'm far from an expert on this, but you probably are having issues with the new pads mating to the worn rotor surface. Since they are a different pad, they probably won't wear the same and require a different bed in process.
the objective of the bed-in process is to deposit an even layer of brake pad material, or transfer layer , on the rubbing surface of the rotor disc. Note the emphasis on the word even, as uneven pad deposits on the rotor face are the number one, and almost exclusive cause of brake judder or vibration.
So assuming you didn't warp the rotors at the track, you probably are having issues with worn rotors and a new pad type not playing nice.
Side note: Centric makes an OEM replacement rotor you can find just about anywhere. They are sometimes rebranded, but they are the only OEM replacements being manufactured AFAIK. You may be able to get away with reusing the rotors next time if you buy the same stoptech pads.
Raybestos makes OEM rotors as well. I bought a set for the front.
I also just changed my pads myself a couple of weeks ago. I stuck with the OEM pads. The change was easy. And i cleaned all of the metal shims, pins, and plate thoroughly. Then I applied the Brembo anti-squeal that was supplied with the pads to the clean shims. Have had squeak free brakes since!
Project Mu pads have grown a lot in popularity. It used to be that you would have to choose performance (more aggressive bite) or low dust. The project mu NS / NS400 have been said to be as good or better than OEM performance wise while producing much less dust. For a more aggressive street and even light track option HC+/ HC+800 is hands down the best option out there.
