Unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is the exotic Italian automaker's new flagship supercar. Replacing the Murcielago, it uses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and is powered by a 700-hp 6.5-liter V12 engine. Paired with AWD and a new 7-speed ISR single-clutch gearbox, the 3,500 lb exotic can hit 62-mph in just 2.9 seconds. The Aventador is also the first production car to use a racecar-style pushrod suspension.
Inside it's far more luxurious than the Murcielago, plus there's a new TFT-LCD screen for the dash instead of analog instruments. It even features a “Drive Select Mode System” that allows the driver to adjust different vehicle settings (including engine, transmission, differential, steering and stability control) to one of three pre-determined setups: Strada, Sport and Corsa.
Described by Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelman as “a jump of two generations”, the Aventador is priced at $379,700.
