Well the K&N Typhoon air intake finally arrived this weekend, ordered it about 3 weeks ago. I installed yesterday with a help of a friend, took about 90 minutes to install just like how K&N claimed. The Cone Filter is HUGE!:p Great start for my weekend.

For the reviews I must say wow the throttle response opened up alot and the roar of the intake is just amazing. Very aggressive and loud. I find that it really matches the sound with the Joe Z exhaust combined. Before I noticed the Joe Z exhaust sound overpowered the Joe Z intake pipe. All I can say is with the K&N this is how a V8 should sound. Once you gun it the VVTI kicks in alot faster and kicks in just under 2000rpm instead of how OEM kicks in at 3500. I've noticed my odometer trip cluster reads 40 miles more per gas tank then what I usually get when I was stock.

As for power gains all I can say is it really goes now. For Dyno results I will have my car dyno'd sometime this coming up weekend. This time I will properly break in this intake before dynoing it. Can't wait for the results.

Thanks for being patient

Stay tuned.

Sorry about the blue pictures..Forgot to set my white balance on my camera..

This shot was alot better:)

This weekend was a great start but it ended bad with a dumb a$$ who backed up into my car. Story is I was out last night with a bunch of buddies having a few drinks at a night lounge where the owner asked me to move my car because I was blocking a person that needed to leave. Anyhow I let my close friend move the car for me because he was pretty much my designated driver for the night. Then he gives me a phone call and tells me my car was hit:sad: He told me this guy was backing out and couldn't see my car behind him and my friend honked a few times to let him know he was there. He stopped so my friend thought it was all good but he started to back out again and smack::egads: He smoked my front right fender:mad: The front side bumper, front right fender and front wheel was damaged...But good news is noone got hurt and at least it wasn't a hit and run situation. I came outside and we both exchanged personal info and he's willing to pay for all the damages. Both of us weren't being douches and we both kept our cool. Tomorrow going to Lexus and get my damages appraised, hopefully it isn't too bad.

A quick shot of the damage that was done...

Looks good, would like to hear an update when you get 3-4 tanks run through it to see how it settles. Especially with summer coming, I'm not convinced that going to an open airbox is optimal for DD on any car as I've played with K&Ns on quite a few (Mustang, Supra & G35) and while they show gains on a dyno (controlled environment), that is completely different that real world driving and heat soak issues when on the road.

Also interested in your dyno results when you get around to it, anyway modding is fun and sorry to see your car got hit but that should be easily fixed in now time. Like you said, at least to didn't get a hit&run or meet up with a jacka**.
Dude...sorry to hear that. Look at the bright side, it's only cosmetic. Thanks for the intake input!
Bummer on the car but sounds like all will turn out fine there......thx for the initial info on the k&n...have to say that does look pretty impressive. Would definitely like to hear your thoughts on it over the course of the next weeks as you put more miles on the car (after it's fixed that is)...
Looks like you left the two spring clips on the vacuum hoses off. Glad you like the intake. A bummer about your accident:mad:

Aww man what a bummer. Hope you can get it fixed soon.

Make sure you have the dyno run in 6th gear as it is the drive gear at 1:1.
SO sorry about your car being hit. A qucik question!

When you installed the K&N parts, what happened to the vaccum that sat on the wheelwell and opened the secondary intake in the wheelwell section? Or should I say held it closed until you went WOT? Did they provide something to block or clog the vaccum line in the K&N kit?

Yes the vacuum line for the secondary intake port was left out because it's suppose to be plugged like how K&N described it in the instructions. Also they didn;t provide a vacuum plug so I had to get my own. That's why the plug is yellow on mine.
Anyone seen this claiming 28HP gain on K&N.

the gain is not 28whp, it does seem to show about a 10whp gain over the range, but the simple fact that they put 2 dots between the marks. clearly shows that this power is being made at different rpm.

this intake may well produce an extra 10whp, i think this is possible just from the relocation of the MAF sensor. moving it further down the intake pipe where the airflow is smoother might give the computer a better reading.

it seems to close to the inlet on the stock airbox IMO.
so to some it all up what do we think about this intake
