Just traded in my 09 S5 for 08 ISF

Well after driving the S for 5months I just felt it didn't feel as fast as I thought it was. So since I wanted an IS since the 300 came out years ago I figured it was the time to do it. I wanted an 09 but I could only get it in black, and since I didn't want black I settled for a silver 08. The dealer tried talking me out of the 09 by saying it 5k over sticker. I think they were bluffing but since I didn't want black it didn't matter. Everyone at the dealer thought I was crazy to turn in my audi but what they didn't know was that the IS was my dream car as wee little lad playing grand turismo. Anyway I'm 26 now and figured it was time to step it up. I almost bought an RS4 before the S5 but I gotta say im all :) now!!! Can't wait to start doing some minor mods and installing my satellite receiver. Also the dealer tried giving me the card of someone who she said could unlock my DVD player while driving and the ability to use my nav while driving. I told her I'd get on the forum and start making friends who would do it for free or for pretty cheap. I have a VAG COM cable for the audi but haven't done the research as to what I need to get my electronic systems unlocked. Did I make a mistake by not going for an 09?

RearViewMirror jarring (vibrating)

When I drove it off the lot I noticed when I sped up above 40miles an hour the rear view mirror shakes violently. Is this due to the suspension or is my mirror possibly loose?
no u made a good choice. i had an audi RS4 before the ISf . i bought the ultrasonic blue, and do not miss the audi. i have to say all wheel drive was a good thing to have especially in the northeast, where i live. i have a 2007 acura mdx/sport for the winter. its funny i almost bought a white S5 before the rs4. it was between the new M3 and the Isf. bmw didnt want to move on the m3 so i went with the lexus. good luck with your new isf. u will love the car.
Welcome and congrats. Sounds like your mirror is loose. Have it adjusted at your next visit to the service dept.
welcome aboard...I had a chipped and modified A4 years ago...great car till I threw the timing belt and wrecked the engine. You are going to love the F, and the shaking mirror is indeed lose.
Thx everybody...I can't wait to break it in and finally get on it!!!
The mirror vibration is a known issue and there is no fix at this time.
Welcome and congratulations. The S5 is a beautiful car, but I'm sure you will be happier with the performance of the IS-F.

My mirror only vibrates when I've got some bass-heavy music turned up pretty loud. I'd have your dealer check it out next time your in. That doesn't sound normal to me.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new F! Your not going to regret your purchase one bit. The differences between the 08 and 09 are minor interior changes so I would have done what you did and took the money off the 08 instead of buying a new 09 and put the money I saved towards some mods. I think you made the right decision.

As far as your mirror, there is one hex screw right in the center of the mirror holder you might want to tighten yourself if you can. If you can't then bring it in as it should just need to be tightened up

Enjoy and great color choice
Welcome!...wow, an '09 S5 traded in after 5 mos...the audi forums wouldn't believe it...did you not want to mess with selling it yourself? s5's are still going for msrp and even msrp+ I read, even in thie economic environment..Regardless, the F is awesome in it's own right as you will soon find out.
Welcome! I'd say you made the right decision trading the Audi for a Lexus. German cars can't beat the reliability of Japanese cars...
Congrats on the car, you'll love it! Its funny as those were the two cars I was looking at before purchasing the ISF. I went into my local Audi dealership looking for the S5, the salesman laughed as he told me there was a 12 month waiting list for it! I then saw an imola yellow 2007 RS4 on the lot that really caught my eye. Boy, am I glad I walked away as my username says it all, I LOVE MY ISF!!!
Thx everybody...I can't wait to break it in and finally get on it!!!
Just out of curiosity, how many miles do you need to break the F's engine in? I sort of figured out not many people actually are breaking in their cars in the F's case. For myself I will definitely do it once I receive my car that is being shipped to me...

If I remember correctly, the break in period is 681 miles. Once you get the car, it tells you what to do and not to do during this period
Actually it's 631 miles or 1,000 km. :)

Just going off what you and I said from this thread

Congrats on the new ride. I am really enjoying mine and I am sure you made the right choice. I have not noticed the rear view mirror vibrating on mine so as others suggested, I would have the dealer check that out. I too went for an 08 demo instead of the 09 because the deal was too good to pass up.

Actually 621 Miles is 1,000 KM.

thanks for the info guys I was thinking 1000 miles or so as on the 09 530i they said to run it in until 2000Kms which is about 1200 miles... I like to stay on the safe side to ensure good power and reliability despite the fact that its a lexi!

I am going off what is published in the owners manual per Lexus USA. ;)
