The engines go thru SEVERAL tests before installed into the vehicle's.
My engine builder that I trust dearly started up my brand new 9K motor still on the engine dyno, and went thru some basic tests, and the next thing I know, he has it running at 7k RPMS for about 1 minute. When I looked at him like WTF, he said I'd rather it blows now, then when your running it at the track. That motor is still in my car and hasn't let me down yet !
Yeah and besides that the ECU does a pretty good job of limiting throttle until the engine gets warmed up via the DBW. At least this is my experience. Demos are only worth it if you are getting a deal substantial enough to motivate you. For me this would have to be around 6K, and it seemed like no dealer accross the country found that amusing. So I bought new.
