Aux port in the console is just an audio only input. If you want a full functional IPOD adapter, you will need to access the backside of the headunit OR you can opt to go with a simple FM modulator. You are SOL otherwise.

thanks flipside,

can i buy an adapter that will plug into the aux port and give me stereo sound? i don't mind just the audio, and i don't mind not being able to use the ipod for video or controlling it's functions on the dvd/nav. i basically don't want to carry around CD's anymore, and my commute is short enough to put on one album before i leave and be happy.

so having said that, is there an adapter that will make me happy?
Actually you can just use a regular mini rca cable and will broadcast in stereo direct through the headphone jack of your ipod. :) And if you need to charge it, you can always use the dc plug next to the aux input to charge your ipod/iphone. :)
