Which intake have you purchased and are happy with?

Intake Options: Pro's and Con's

I've been researching direct intakes. Currently I am looking at K&N, SRT, and the Joe Z options. I would like advice on this, but the Joe Z ($140.00) appears to be more of an aesthetic than engine upgrade. The SRT ($599.00), on the other hand, claims an average gain of 20 horses. The interesting thing about the SRT is that it includes a "race ecu," though they do not go into depth about whether it's the hardware or software contributing the majority of the gain. K&N ($356.74) seems to be the popular choice, with claims of 25-28 horses. Finally there is the Takeda ($349.00) option with gains of about 15 horses.

I skimmed some older threads on here but found little in way of dyno's and such. Any help on this:confused:? Thanks >.<

I don't like the open filter intakes for the f because it gets rid of the stock airbox and when you do that then the filter sucks in heat soaked air so the gains are minimal....just my .02 cents
Point well made, the K&N and SRT are the ones with open filters if I'm not mistaken?
I just added a public poll so we can see who has what and address questions to people with actual experience with the products.
Go on ClubLexus in the ISF section, there are about a dozen threads that discuss this with results.
Ah, will do, thanks :)
Stay away from SRT those claims are exaggerated. I have the JoeZ tube, its a great product utilizing the stock airbox and no heat soak.
JoeZ Is ok but heat soaks very easily. I have mine wrapped now and stays much cooler than before.
I had the K&N and loved it except for the loss of the oem air box. I believe Lou got the new Takeda first and showed pics. It retains half the stock box and fits in very nice. I sold the K&N and got the Takeda and am very happy.
^^^^I did, and it's still there and staying there.

Lou
K&N

The K&N does get hot! Here is sound clip taken on my phone.

Ummmmm wheres Injen???? :) I have the Injen and I LOVE IT!!! I created an air induction system with use of an additional G35 Intake Tube (it was the right curvature for what I was designing, and it is QUITE the addition. Comes from the brake vent (bottom of tube) right on up to the engine bay compartment almost directly into the Injen intake filter.. HUGE gains as far as im concerned, the feel is increadible. :)

get some pics up as soon as you can. I'd like to see how/what you did. this might be something worth looking into to get cold air.

Interesting set up. I'm running the stock airbox still. I will look at that closer though, maybe I'll take my airbox off this weekend to see what is under there.

Or.... you can ask me!!! :) its nothing but airspace!!!! There is one hole that the air box uses for the bolt to fasten into, other than that its just open air, best to look in the wheel well of the front right tire, take the insert out or bend around it.. Plenty of room for a nice 6 1/2" hole!!!!
i have the injen intake and also love it... the sound anyway, not sure if theres a real big power gain or not. I did gain 2-3 mpg on the high way, lost a few mpg in the city but my foot might just be in it more to hear that sweet sound!! Seems to breath better in high rpms, props to injen on the 5in Velocity stack!
The stock intake has been fine for me. =) ...but of all the after-market ones available the JoeZ is the winner in my opinion.

I agree with Lou here. I purchased my Takeda intake after he and I talked about it a while ago and I haven't looked back since. I got the Takeda for a steal and I actually switched to it from the Joe Z. I love Joe Z's products (I can't imagine running anything other than his exhaust) however I wanted something a little different and so I purchased the Takeda intake (plus the price I picked it up for was too good to pass up). I still have the Joe Z intake (no, it's not for sale) but the Takeda I've been enjoying for some time now.
