Hi Guys. I know this is a Lexus forum, but being a previous ISF owner, I thought I could come here to bounce off some thoughts. I am considering buying a 2010 Subaru WRX STI. (My first Subaru) But I am just not 100% sure if it is the best car for me. Also, after reading some of the long term test, the STI seems to take a bit of a beating.

I am basically looking for a fun car, that has a MANUAL tranny. Can fit my young kids (6 and 4) in the back seat once in a while. 4 wheel drive is nice, but not a must. I could do rear wheel drive. Might do a 1 or 2 track days a year. Just wondering if there are any other cars to consider before pulling the trigger on a STI.

Other options?
335xi? (A bit overpriced compared to the value)
EVO X (Not really crazy about the looks)
Golf GTI (Front wheel, and not that strong)
G37x (Too many of them)
Audi A4/S4/S5 (A bit pricey and questionable reliabilty)
Merc and Lexus (No manual)

What other cars are out there that are/can be as fun as a STI? I am so in love with the White/Gold combo. But just don't know if the car is worth the $45k Canadian price tag? In that price range, (plus or minus $5k), what else is available?

Altough I can afford the above listed cars, the pricey ones might not be the best use of my money.

I sold my Lexus ISF last year, and although I loved the power and luxury, I missed the manual tranny.

Any advice?

Thanks to everyone on the feedback, it is greatly appreciated!! I have decided to wait until I find the right deal on an E92 M3 manual. Let the hunting begin!

Best of luck!

This reminds me of folks who were STi owners, sold and got into the Lancer Evo. (AKA "went to the dark side") Heck, there are even ones who did that and later came back and bought a second STi.

There's nothing wrong with it of course, I think it's pretty cool trying other cars.

My best friend is looking forward to his E92 as well.

Please share your experiences, it's always fun to read.
I still do love the F, and miss mine every day. I was spanking M3's all day long at the drag strip. It is an awesome car!! But since I am out of it, might as well give the m3 a try. Almost found a deal on a c63, but didn't want another auto.

Who knows, if there is ever a manual F, I will be back. Or maybe a supra!!! 2012/13/14??

Ok, F that!!! I am back! M3 is waste of money. I miss my F. I am not bugging my dealer for a good deal on a 2010! Too bad all the dealers on this site are from the USA. I need a good Canadian Dealer to give me a 2010 well below MSRP. The prices have gone up since my 2008!

At least the rates have dropped. With a $4500 security, I can get a four year lease for 2.1%.

Screw BMW and M3!

I can get an M3 to drive if I want, but after considering the cars, I still think the F is the best option out there. And an LSD on the 2010 will help my track times. The features and quality on the F kills anything I can get from the M3.

So you're back? Nice! :)

Wait a little bit, the 2010's will go down in price. I'm shooting to get one in 2012 or there abouts.
Oops, I did it again!

2010 ordered. Here in 2 weeks.
