I used to think "old people are crazy" when they spoke of conspiracies...
Not so much these days..

I've said this before when all the recalls started, although I don't consider myself that old. Money for notoriety.

Any car can be stopped by applying the brakes even at full throttle, it is part of the prerequisites when deigning the car. It would not pass the various motor authorities approval tests otherwise.
This is all orchestrated by the US car industry. Bashing their main concurrent via the medias is the only way they found regain some market share.
