Gee how bout putting the car in neutral for starters and this BS about the brakes not stopping the car is also crazy!! Try this, get in any car keep your foot on he brakes then put the accelerator to the floor and see what happens. Brakes win every time! Problem is people are not standing on the brakes and STAYING on he brakes. Media frenzy has been a joke IMO.
I used to think "old people are crazy" when they spoke of conspiracies...
Not so much these days..
I don't understand how people cannot think on their feet, and get frozen with fear if something out of the ordinary happens.

A couple years ago, I was driving my truck on the freeway going into Baltimore (the truck is lifted and has a decently more powerful engine than stock). I floored the truck to pass somebody, and when I let off the throttle, it stayed at WOT. My adrenaline flared a bit, as my wife and a couple friend were in the truck with me as it accelerated at 90+ mph toward a tight freeway curve. I then did the obvious...shifted the truck into neutral, shut off then engine, and let the truck coast. I started the engine again while it was coasting, and the RPMs went back to idle. Turns out that dirt in the engine bay made the throttle wire stick. I guess I should clean more than just the exterior after 4wheeling.

Close Call !!! Clever moves though ... Key is to use ur brain and not panic in such a situation .... Many people do the opposite though.
C&D did a test on this months ago and was successful in stopping the vehicles at wot from 70mph in about 10 feet more than what it would take under no WOT situation. Well except for the new Shelby GT500. They almost couldn't stop it due to the torque, and that my friends is the difference in this whole ordeal. A Prius has NO Torque and neither does a Camrey or anything else other than an IS-F and a couple fo the trucks. So being able to stop any of the Toyota's would be a piece of cake even if you were only standing on the brakes. I just do not get the medias BS on the Toyota issue? Its just going to be a free for all for the scumbags who want to get rich quick, like the A$$wipe in California and his Prius! Can you say LOSER!

I've said this before when all the recalls started, although I don't consider myself that old. Money for notoriety.
apparently the prius in california was caused by the driver, or so toyota says. and i just read he had "financial troubles" sounds like the guy with the balloon and the kid.
Any car can be stopped by applying the brakes even at full throttle, it is part of the prerequisites when deigning the car. It would not pass the various motor authorities approval tests otherwise.
This is all orchestrated by the US car industry. Bashing their main concurrent via the medias is the only way they found regain some market share.

Amen to that!
In LA a few days ago a guy on the freeway in a Prius had to call cops for them to stop his runaway car. Basically had the cop go in front of him and the cop hit the break slowly and slowed down the Prius to a stop. what a stupid story... I said, good thing the guy doesnt have an isf, which cop would catch up with him????????? Although, that is my new excuse if i get caught speeding. Sorry officer my pedal got stuck lol ahahahahhahaha
Folks, it's really easy.

Half our population does not know how to drive, this isn't surprising.
I agree with Peleg but feel its more like 80% of our motoring public has its cranium up its anus, at least when they are driving, er, sitting in the driver seat!!
