just wanted to drop by here and introduce myself...

i'm in the market for a c63/m3/isf
and am finding myself leaning towards the isf because i just can't get myself to like any current production bmws other than the 1series wagon... and MB has a service staff that think that they are the paying customers...

i've been through a few cars... including 88 pulsar, 90 legend, 90 celica, 91 legend, 91 mr2, 92 svx, 93 urs4, 94 626, 96 318tu, 97 s320, 98 clk, 00 mr2, 00 forester (not in that particular order) but have always found myself admiring the drivability and reliability of lexus... also the one set of numbers that really impressed me about the isf is that while like all the other entry super sedans (c63, m3, rs4) the isf has big engine numbers, but the isf somehow manages to pump out 16/23 mpg while the others would be laughing to even see 20 on hw....

this forum has been great for background info reading... but i have a few questions...

how is the isf in terms of reliability so far? i hate having random CELs or having to make unplanned trips to the mechanics...

and also...

what's the difference between the 08 and the 09 model?? seems like if there are 08s around, they can be a great bargain...

last... i'm located in the southern california area... any recommended dealers around here??

We are glad to see your looking at the IS-F!

It really is a great car? Have you driven one yet? Been to the dealership to look? They are amazing cars (as I'm sure you've read on here before). Reliability hasn't been an issue at all (knock on wood) There haven't been random CEL's or anything of the sort I've heard of from anyone with the F (nor have I had any myself). Toyota's are extremely reliable cars and I wouldn't worry to much about their reliability.

Welcome! As far as the IS F's reliability, it's a Lexus, and the 2nd generation IS platform has proven to be reliable from the start. Since the IS F just came out this past February, it's still early to say, but so far so good, no one in any of the Lexus communities have reported any problems.

Many of the 08 to 09 differences are cosmetic. As mentioned above in the link provided, I have highlighted the 09 updates for the IS F. It's virtually unchanged other than the small refresh and updates to the interior.

I highly recommend one dealer here in SoCal and is the same place I get all my Lexus vehicles. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

welcome to the forums! As a lexus IS-F owner, Ive never been happier with a car so far in my life, this car is just made to perfection, you should really just test drive one and experience it, go to a dealership and just take a look at it, it will catch your eye and you won't be looking at other cars, honestly i was able to get a BMW M5 and was even thinking of a Maserati Quattracoupe, but i chose this car because one the price is not expensive at all, for what you are getting, and the looking into the BMW was a fan of BMW just thought that BMW cars goes through service alot, my opinion and so many people have BMW's in general, and the Maserati was a bit pricy for what you are getting, so I chose IS-F and wasn't dissappointed at all, but thats me a lot of the members on this forums can speak the same i believe.

"Lexus" is more focused on luxury cars, but this is the first ever to have its sports car sedan, at under 3000 rpms you will think that its a regular lexus, but once you turn sport mode off vcs off and gas it to over 3000 rpms unleashes the IS-F's true power, and you will have to find that out yourself

I was in the exact same position fyi...My Merc was up on a lease, and I had been a loyal Merc driver for the past 6 years. I was going to get the M3 sedan, C63, or F. I went to the BMW dealer and ending up buying a X5 4.8 for my wife, which is a pretty great car. The M3 just didn't do it for me. I was then going to test drive the C63 and stopped in to the Lexus dealer which was next door to the Merc dealer. I drove the F and drove it off the lot 3 hours later. I actually had the Merc salesman calling me wondering where I was for the C63 test drive. I think if you go drive the F you will find yourself in a similar position. It is really a sweet car.
