Has anyone downgraded to 17s or 18s?

Has anyone put smaller rims with more rubber on their ISF to see if it makes the ride a little more gentle? What was the outcome and what size rims / tires did you use?

I put 18" wheels and snow tires on my F for the winter. I think it improved the ride a little bit, but not as much as I would have guessed. I don't know how snow tires compare to summer tires in sidewall stiffness, so I don't know how that affects the whole equation.

There is no way that 17" wheels would fit over the brakes. My 18" wheels *barely* cleared the calipers on the front wheels.

Oh yeah! I forgot about those monster brakes:cool:
Perhaps I could interest you in an ES350 or LS460 if you would like a more gentle ride? :p

I couldn't resist. Sorry Speed.
I have the g-spider 18" on mine as winters. Got the car this way, getting my 19" on tomorrow night!!!
I'm sorry but if I wanted a better ride would have went with anything but the IS-f.
The ride is too soft as far as I'm concerned.

18" is the smallest size you can clear. Here's a link with all the 18" wheels we have that are guaranteed to work on your F.

Depending on the wheel dimensions, a good tire combination to run is 245/45-18's in the front and 275/40-18's in the rear (keeping load index in mind).
17" would look too dinky even if you can get it to fit on our cars

Agreed, but they wouldn't be bad for a winter setup.
WTB stock wheel

if anybody has upgraded or downgraded im looking for a stock wheel for the front. I only need 1 but if i have to buy both front wheels i will. please let me know, im dealing with an alignment problem which i've posted in the active topics that im dealing with corporate trying to charge me 2500$ for 1 wheel. thanks.
you can fit 17inch is250 wheels in the back, I took off my 19s to see if they fit in the back, they barely fit, you cannot have wheel weights in the inside walls near the calipers. it will hit the, thats how close they are. I did it cause I wanted to mount some 275 40 17s Bfg Drag Radials for 1/4mile runs. and it works
