We might have some future opportunities for remapping and parts??? Below is a Quote from Motor Trend:

"2010 Lexus GS 460 In contrast, the GS F variant will employ the IS F's 5.0-liter V-8, but with strategic modifications including revamped ECU and exhaust. Horsepower will reportedly be boosted from 417 hp to as much as 464 hp:eek:. While that doesn't touch cars like the Cadillac CTS-V's 556-hp, the GS F should no doubt be plenty fast."

I had heard that the GS F program was cancelled. If they are moving ahead with it that would be cool. abyars, if you read the whole article, it says that Lexus has a target weight of 3530 lbs. I'm pretty sure the CTS-V is about 4300 lbs. A 3530 lb car with 464 hp would actually be a little faster than a 4300 lb car with 556 hp.

The article that was posted said Lexus is playing around with some lighter weight materials. My guess is its trickle down technology from the weighs savings for the LFA. The current Lexus GS 460 weight 3945 lbs. Loosing 400+ lbs would definitely be significant if they can do it.

By the way, if that article has any validity, it would be awesome news. If Lexus is successful in building a 3530 pound, V8 powered vehicle the size of a 5 series BMW or Mercedes E Class, it would be incredible. You can always build an engine to produce lots of horsepower, but it is much more difficult to seriously reduce a vehicle's weight without taking out the luxury features we all love.

Just look at the 2010 M5, which weighs 4012 lbs or the 2010 E63 AMG which tips the scales at 4057 lbs.

I just did a quick comparison on http://robrobinette.com/et.htm, and it calculates the 1/4 mile times as:

(Supposed) Lexus GS F - 3530 lbs - 464 hp: 12.0752 second 1/4 mile

2010 BMW M5 - 4012 lbs - 500 hp: 12.2915 second 1/4 mile

2010 MB E63 AMG - 4057 lbs - 518 hp: 12.1927 second 1/4 mile

2010 Cadillac CTS-V - 4300 lbs - 556 hp: 12.1415 second 1/4 mile

The 2010 E63 AMG is brand new, so it won't be changing soon. The M5 on the other hand is due for a major overhaul. All bets are off when the new one is introduced with a 4.4l twin turbo V8 producing approximately 600 hp.
