Cool... Did you get to see our exhaust on his is F???

I would say Lexus designed the restrictve manifolds based on power output wanted and space contraints located inside our super tight engine bays..

I agree that there is room for improvement on the header design, which should create some more power on our V8's once, the primary CATs are deleted..

Some good R&D should come out of this, on whether its going to be worth it or not to create headers.

Regards,
Joe Z
Yes, I got a good look at the exhaust...looked like a very solid and clean setup. I have a question...what is the weight of the Joe Z exhaust vs stock? I've heard there is a decent power increase and a great exhaust note...I was just wondering about weight savings. Thanks.

Thanks!!!! :D

* Exhaust Weight Facts *

OEM Exhaust System (2 sections)
Front-Mid section = 33 lbs
Rear Axle section = 37 lbs
Total = 70 lbs

PTS Joe Z - 304 Stainless Steel Exhaust (4 sections)
Front X-pipe = 16 lbs
Mid section = 19 lbs
Rear axle sections = 29 lbs
Total = 64 lbs

Thanks for the numbers Joe Z.

Is there any possibility of getting a titanium exhaust...or something lighter than stainless steel? I have a full titanium exhaust on my bike...I imagine it might be very expensive to make a car exhaust with it though...just thought it would be nice to have a power increase combined with considerable weight savings.

UPDATE
The prototype is almost complete which means I will be able to test drive it soon. Hopefully by the end of next week it will be complete and hopefully I will have some dyno sheets. I'm going to drive it around for 500 miles to make sure no check engine lights appear. Don't worry they will be a quick 500.

Awesome!!! I am eagerly awaiting the results.

By the way Jaslapp, I am considering talking to James about doing a custom engine build with supercharger on my wife's S2000...should be interesting. If I do this, I will have a serious track monster on my hands (400hp - 2800 lbs). I was thinking about seeing if they would find a way to fit an LS7 under the hood (has been done before with an LS2), but my wife wants me to work with what's in there already (oh well it is her car).

Nice, I also have a well reputative and well known aftermarket parts brand who is custom making me a full Ti catback secondary cat delete exhaust and he also said something about longtube headers. But problem is if there is no ems system that works and can tune for our car the headers would likely pull a CEL and have some problems. So the headers might be squashed for now.

^^ Andy,

You have Full aftermarket exhaust already and they are making you a Full custom Ti exhaust?? :confused:

We looked at the possibilites of making our exhaust in a full Ti version, but the system would cost double or maybe even tripple..

Not worth it since there would be no difference in Performance gains, since the lay out would be the same.
Although, it be a whole lot lighter...

Yes the shop is owned by a very close friend of mine, he's been in the car modding business for over 2 decades and have been making aftermarket parts for a long time. He decided to make some aftermarket parts for our F's and using my car as the test mule. If it makes more power then I will get it and also I get a great deal on it since my car is the test mule. Our F's needs a diet:p

Sounds interesting Andy,

But, lets hope your new custom exhaust project gets its own R&D...

Handing your F over to him with our exhaust on it would be a bit disreputable, in my honest opinion.

Oh he's definitely doing his own R&D. I gave him my stock exhaust a few months back and he made a molding out of it. Don't worry, in no disrespectful way. He does his own research and design. The brand is called T1R if u ever heard of it. The brand has been out for at least 8 yrs.

UPDATE:
The prototype header is complete. It has been sent out to sikky (manufactoring company). I was going to test drive the prototype but James wants me to have the first production model to make sure there will be no problems. That should be back in about 2 weeks or so. No dyno numbers yet although it has been run and i've been told the numbers are good. I will have final numbers once the headers are back. I don't know about you guys and girls but I'm more then excited about this. Let's keep our fingers crossed for 20 to 30 rwhp gains. Oh yeah the headers look sick by the way :D.

Sorry no photos yet they are being very hush hush about this until it's done. The rumor is it might be around 1200 but I don't know what the final price is going to be. Once I figure it out I'll let everyone know.
