I live in NY and "forgot" to put on my front plate. What have you all decided to do, especially if your state (like NY)requires front plates?

I'm from Texas and it is also "required" here. It is a law that really isn't enforced down here unless the officer really needs a reason to pull you over (suspicious situations that one might drive away from). I keep mine in my trunk so that if I do get pulled over for it, I can tell them it's in my trunk, go get it and put it on my dash behind my windshield. When I get home, take it down and put it back in my trunk :)
i get a parking ticket every 3 days or so, lol
so far I have a friend who fights tickets so I took a pic of the plate on the car and she goes before a judge and the tickets get dismissed.....
it is getting annoying though and I'm thinking of just putting it on...
Wow,that sucks cuz it looks terrible on the front bumper.Cant you keep in the front window? I went to NYC for the New Years eve party and the pigs were a-holes.My uncle is a cop love him because he's family but he's still an a-hole. :D :p ;)
Here in CT, they do the same. All cars are required by law to have a front plate but most cops don't bust your chops if you don't have one. Unless you're in smaller towns like Greenwich or Darien.
It is required here in CA and I've been ticketed twice>

so far. The first time I thought nothing of it but after the second time I put the front plate on and left it there.

At LAX Airport they'll ticket your car with no front plates while you are away. Heard they can even tow your car if they want to! Plus in all of the area's with the new traffic signal camera's the Officers are really enforcing the front plate law these day's.... So I am going to live with it on! :(
Im in new york as well i have bumper plugs, just say to the cop that you just got your bumper redone and the paint needs a couple of days to dry, they should let you go, hopefully you have PBA cards or something to help you out.

Same thing you did, conveniently forgot. I'm in NY also.
Hey all. I have my temp registration, but was wondering this same issue and came upon this thread when I searched.

JBLU24, how did the swift thing work? The only issue I would see is I would drive around with it hidden and probably get nabbed.

I am not sure what the enforcement is like here in Colorado. My plan was to keep it in the trunk, along with the brackets to hook it up, and tell the cop (if and when it happens) that I was planning on taking it into the dealer to get put on. I would think he would let it slide, wouldn't you?
Dang lol, if that actually fits the F, I'm going to be picking up one of those too!
Wow, those are sweet! Any pics of it on the F?
Hey, I'm in NY, and I also keep "forgetting" that front plate..
front license plates are required where i live. i've never had one on. ever. and will never put one on. ever. they're too ugly.

side note. dont mean to hijack, but how many people have got tint tickets. i've had 5% on my truck for 4 years, no tickets, never stopped for it, i have 5% on my is350, no tickets, and will definately put 5% on my IS F......
over the last 20 years, i have lived in NY, TX and CA and never had a problem for missing front plates. it certainly could be very costly if cited, but the chance a cop will cite you just for missing front plate is very slim.

i just have this crazy thought: what if i put a photocopy of the plate on the dashboard? that should fool most cops at distance.
None in Maryland unless there is something I don't know about..Just a Back plate from Day 1..
The front license plate isn't a law that is enforced heavily in most (not all) states by patrol officers. Traffic officers and highway patrol, yes, normal patrol has better things to do. With that said, if your doing something stupid or being ridiculous or rude, it gives an officer PC to stop you or tac on another fine to your ticket. Knock on wood, I haven't had a front plate on any of my cars here in Texas and never gotten a ticket :D
Mica, having a "photocopy" or even the actual plate on your dashed and not mounted as it is suppose to be is the same ticket as if you didn't have it mounted at all...
It's required here in CA but I've never had a front license plate on any of my vehicles. I've been pulled over ONCE for no front plate, only as an excuse to pull me over so the dick could search my vehicle, he didn't even write me a ticket for it.

This depends on the state. In Texas, you can have the actual plate mounted on your dash inside the vehicle so long as it is visible from the front of the car :D That's why I keep mine in the trunk, throw it up there if/when I get pulled over
