I recently bought a 2010 ISF USB.

I would like to know after how many mile is it recommended to change the first oil change and can i switch to Mobil 1 right away or do I have to wait to switch to Mobil 1?

Plus how many quarts does the IS F take?

thanks,

Congrats on the 2010 ISF. I wanted to switch right away to synthetic in my 08 ISF but I waited until the 5,000 mile service. The car holds 9.9 qts of oil and also has an engine oil cooler so I figured a few thousand miles with conventional oil would not be a big deal. Just my opinion.

Welcome to the site. 2010....nice.

IN Is-F is right about the 9.9qts. As far as switching to synthetic it is up to you. There are several threads that debate this topic both ways. Try a quick search for "synthetic" and you will find more than you probably want to.

Here is one that I found for ya: http://www.lexusfforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467&highlight=synthetic.

BTW I switched to Mobile 1 Syn at the first oil change.
Congrats on your purchase.

I picked up my 2010 ISF in November and ran the factory fill oil until the 5,000 mile service, and then I switched it out for Redline 5w30.
^^^ yeah it's a grip every oil change.
Lexus ISF Oil Wrench

Does anyone know if the autozone oil filter wrench F fit? I know they said it fits the IS350 filter. Or do i have to buy the toyota specific 1.
If it fits an IS350, it will fit every other Toyota or Lexus model with an aluminum filter housing. But, it needs to specific for Toyota and Lexus. A universal filter wrench may work for a short time, but will, in time, round off the edges of the filter housing. The wrench I use works on my F and my wife's ES. The one I use is the A254 on the attached sheet. Note that it's Toyota/Lexus specific.

Sorry, but this forum's download size is too small to accept the PDF file I was trying to download. However, it's available on the LC Forum, Here:

Congrats on the purchase. Make sure you break it in correctly so you won't be "eating" oil later on.
Save yourself money on the special filter wrench and buy a couple dollar rubber strap wrench. I put it around the large portion of the oil filter housing and crank it down and it comes right off. If you try putting it on the end where the filter wrench goes it will slip and you won't get enough leverage to break it loose. Put it around the middle of the housing where it is uneven and it will grip just fine!
oil change

Hello all

Does the oil change light automatically come on at a set mileage from the prior change?

I put amsoil in about 5k ago and my light just turned on. I thought I could run 7500 or more on amsoil. Have been driving hard in city though

Thanks
you got to go into your oil maintanence inside you stereo system to reset the milage on the oil and fillet.

That answer is bogus. The procedure is in you Owner's Manual. It also in this thread:

Well it's not completly bogus. On ML equiped cars on the touch screen there is a oil and filter reminder that keeps track of mileage and date. Also on the guage cluster there is one for oil maintenance that goes by mileage only and you reset it with the trip meter reset button.
^^^^mercurymet was asking about the oil light. I responded to his question.

AZNKING, LOWRIDER and FNaround,

thanks for the info!

I guess I'll reset it and change the oil in another 2.5 - 5K
