hello, i finally got my baby
and she purrs like a kitten
or a lion, whichever u prefer
i love it already
im in canada( maybe the manuals are different in the usa), and i was wondering what page in which manual does it talk about the break in period?
ive searched around and ive herd different suggestions on doing it properly
i would just like to read what lexus recommends
any suggestions?
and which page?
if someone can assist that be great

ive been hunting the forums for a month now
seems great
and now its good to be official

i just figured that the manuals for all canadian models would be the same

You finally got it eh?!?!?! I haven't seen you around town on the road yet

As for the break in period... They run the engines at redline and as soon as they install the final bolt on the engine. As soon as they leave the final line they run the cars hard before going to the marshalling yard to check for problems.

My opinion if you run it hard from the start anything with a flaw should fail, and fail early under warranty. I did not push my F hard for the first 300kms to allow the brakes to 'settle' in as per the manual. After that point however, I have been driving it like I plan to. That is, I drive as if the gas pedal was an on/off button rather than a gradual accelerator

Some QC engineers at work see my logic as far as the break in period others laugh and shake their head... but perhaps they know me to well...

Break in period for any car is very important. You want the engine's seals to seat properly to avoid leaks down the road. Especially with valve guide seals and valve cover gaskets. The manufacturer has set a break in period standard for a reason...and they have spent countless hours and research to publish this. This is Toyota and Yamaha engineering you're dealing with...not yesterday's GM or Ford.

have u done the nav yet?
and i have been pretty normal on her
but i did push it a bit, just to 180ish once and 160 a few times
i accelerated quite fast a few times
but i dont think it will hurt her
im only at 300 km now, just wanted to see what it could do
and i love it
im gonna take her easy now till the 1000km mark

also, how picky should i be about the outside condition?
there was a scuff when i picked it up that i noticed, they said they will fix it this week and also found a problem on the clearcoat two scuff lines that they said would buff out
i also saw a hair like scratch on the driver door
I feel like a dick complaining about this stuff
but i went to get my clear shield put on and they couldnt do it because it would cover the area and would always be there if it wasnt repaired

i believe if u pay 60+ for a car that it should be perfect
what do u guys think? is there any room for give in that area
or should i not be so picky
i understand it wont be perfect forever
but i think it should at least be at first

and for repairing painted areas, is there any method i should request them to do becasue i hear that a repainted car and clearcoat will never be the same
i also need to make sure they reapply the extra paint protection I purchased

and funny thing is the guy who waxed the car at the dealership should and would have noticed these things
so maybe they tried to slip it by me
which isnt very nice

welcome. They tried to slip a small scratch by me also. Demand it fixed to your satisfaction. Don't complete the survey until you are happy.

Now hurry up with the break in and bring it to Mosport next Wednesday!!

Survey takes a week or two after delivery.

As for system damage (scratches and the like during transport) go over with a fine tooth comb!

My rear bumper fascia was missing a clip and the rear silencer pad was also loose as a result. Should have been caught during PDI. I have a feeling a chain hook may have snagged it when they removed it from the train or over the road carrier. They are fixing that tomorrow as well. Some minor scuffs and scratches I did notice likely from someone wearing jeans with rivets. I am going to mention those as well and see what happens.

one quick question
i just noticed today that my alignment pulls a little to the right
i havent done any tough driving
no curbs or anything of that nature
what would warrant this issue?

should it be perfect as well?

Your alignment should be perfect. I would check the tire pressures to see if one tire might be lower then the other. If not, you might need a realignment.

I am going to the one run by www.apexdriving.ca at $400 per person. Also just found out Durham BMW just opened up their track day to non bmw's. That one is $350 on the development track at the end of May or July. I am going at the end of May.
