Mines exactly like that too. It's not melted but cut away

looks like it was done at the factory before the install??? It's the same in the upper left exhaust and the upper right exhaust corner. To exact on each side to be melting and not cutting.... IMHO it's less weight so the car goes faster! LOL...... I'm not worried about it at all, obviously...

LOL. i anit really picky or a perfection to much extent. you cant tell from far away or anything just a little worried maybe down the long run it gets worser.

only 2 work

I have not received my car yet...coming any day now. I have heard that only 2 of the 4 exhausts work and that 2 of the 4 are for looks...true?

Not true. All four have pipes leading to the exit flanges

It only looks like the bottom one, which you can see right through part of it, does not have a pipe leading into it. But if you get down on your hands and knees, you can see the pipe sticking into the unit.... All four put out heat and smoke and SOUND !!

Exhaust

I have owned my IS-F for two weeks and absoulutely love it. I just read the comment about the perforated black mesh around the exhaust tips. These are meant to be that way. I don't have the functional reasoning for it but that is definately a factory break in the mesh.

Exhaust Mesh

I consulted the Lexus of Sacramento IS-F champion. For those of you that don't know all of the Lexus Dealers had to appoint a IS-F champion which was sent to Las Vegas to spend time learning about the IS-F. These individuals were able to road test the new IS-F and run hot laps with professional race car drivers at the wheel. Any way He stated that the purpose of the wrapping effect of the mesh was designed to reduce any potential vibration caused by the exhaust system. As I suspected every aspect of these cars truly does serve a functional purpose.

IS F champion training I went to did not mention. I looked at the F in stock at my dealership and it has the same two "bends" on each mesh panel. Must be by design...I agree with RickyK about functional design...

Relax. Factory design.

If you look very closely you will find : Where the areas appear bent, this is where the mesh is attached from behind. The purpose is most likely to sustain rigidity in the mesh and prevent any rattles. The mesh has to be attached somehow and this is their method.
