i dont know if im as curious as others, but to put it bluntly.... where the [email protected]#$ are my headers?

the "they should be ready in 3 weeks" was up almost 3 weeks ago. i'd like to get them on my car before it [email protected]#$ing snows this year.

hello all

we found my major leak on the driver side (between the headers and the exhaust) the flange was 100% straight ... the problem is the cheap gasket that come with headers !

i replace it with custom one and now PERFECT

as for the other leak on passenger side that come from headers we just tight it again and now perfect seal.

but my concern is not the quality of the headers but the HP....

STILL HAVE 385 HP AND 367 BEFORE @ SEA LEVEL SEA 5 ON THE DYNOJET

we are far from 40-50 hp at the wheel!!!!

but maybe i mist something

good to see the leaks were an easy fix. What kind of gasket did you use? Just an observation on the power issue. I looked at the specs for the other two guys that posted there graphs and they both have the Joe Z exhausts. Noticed yours says custom 2.5 inch. Since the setups are not identical I think it's safe to say that this could have a small part in it?

exact same design as joe z but used 2 futoba muffler

all in ss 304 mandrel bent with 2 small resonator like joe z

cayman as a 351 base run on dyno jet and he have joe z stuff !! and he pick 39hp correct

so with a base run of 367 on dyno jet too i am suppose to see minimum of 39 hp also ...

p.s anyway, everything i will say you have alway someone to tell you that you have something different

Eric, first I have to ask and I'm sorry if you have already answered this question, but when did you have your baseline done and what were the conditions? Can you post your dyno graph for us to view? The reason I ask is that you could have just had better weather conditions for your baseline dyno compared to your header dyno.

Take for example my baseline runs in the below link. They are way off with the same mods even with SAE applied.

Every manifold that I have made have had a completely flat flange.... Actually the factory flanges are not raised around the ports. Only 4 out of the 8 are like the ones pictured and they are like that to allow for expansion and contractions of the flanges. If you notice the factory manifold flanges are in pairs.

same condition, maybe 2-3 degree colder with the headers run.
same dyno also

we know everything about running a dyno ... we have a motorcycle dealer with dyno and we make alot of custom tune (for bike)

well spotted andy. i noticed that as well but couldnt put it into words as i have not handled a pair of factory flanges.

i just got back from the local toyota dealership. and after an inspection of the un-touched sikky flange by half a dozen mechanics and a few parts guys, i asked if they would be comfortable mounting these to a motor without leaking. the result was a resounding "no", comments included "the flange isnt even straight", "the ports arent even round", "these arent even flat"

when i asked what should be done, they said they should be made flat and new gaskets should be used. it is their feelings that gaskets could be used again if they were being used with the factory manifolds, but not aftermarkets.

i already ordered new gaskets this morning, and will continue to resurface the other header.

The old saying "If it aint broke, don't fix it" keeps resonating in my head after reading all these recent posts. There are no leaks or warpage and the SIKKY headers have been performing flawlessly for both Jaslapp and I. I believe Jaslapp has thousands of miles on his headers and I have around 1500. SIKKY designed the headers the way they are for a reason and it's worked. So basically to those calling SIKKY out for making a a sub-par quality headers you have three choices.

1. Modify the SIKKY headers and pray they don't eventually leak or warp.
2. Stick with the directions and trust that the SIKKY headers are fine as is.
3. Wait for an alternative product that Elite will be offering.

Best of luck to you doublexl with modifying these perfectly good headers. I'll be watching to see how this turns out.

I will say the factory gaskets can be reused. Metal exhaust gaskets can be reused many times.

I think the third option is the best!!! Plus it think we will have the best power gain when we are done!

The dynapak graphs posted are a bit confusing to look at, but by looking at my dynojet graph below I really don't see any significant dips in power. What are you referring to exactly?

The original chart and the one on sikky's site looked like this, I remember that it was a slight dip and seems more exaggerated due to the scaling of the chart but I couldn't remember if that dip was replicated in yours, thanks for posting the chart. Here is the ones I was talking about with the dip:

How does the Microprocessor work? Is it just an O2 simulator? Does it have to be attached to the Ecu or the O2 sensors themselves?

Slay, it's basically an advanced 02 simulator compared to most on the market, but the concept is the same. Lexus has quite a few more checks that it performs to ensure the CATS are in place and in working order so the simulator has to account for them. It's a small sealed memory board/microprocessor with two wires that are attached to the wiring in the ECU box.

Sikky called to tell me that my headers will arrive tomorrow. They also told me that there was a error in the directions where a wire was supposed to go in pin 5 instead of 4 could a miss wired 02 sensor be causing pirates low numbers?

No post cat O2 do not affect fuel trims. If it was a primary then yes.

Well wouldn't the O2 sims be wired to the primaries because if they werent we would need some for just the exhaust too but thats not the case because replacing just an exhaust doesn't throw codes. I suggest Pirate calls sikky and finds out, I suspect that his issue was because of the typo in directions.

we spot the error before sikky call me ...

as soon as you open the ecu box you can truly see the pin # 5 is ok and not #4

you cannot miss a white wire with black lign

i will also go on the dynopack this time... hope the hp will reappear
